Chapter 16

Gabriel once again walks back inside of Damien's house where all of them were having dinner together, he smiles as the three of them turn to stare his way.

"Hey Buddy, hungry?" Damien asks him and he nods joining the family.

"So, Nicholas called" Damien starts the conversation.

"Hmm" Gabriel hums as he takes a bite of his dinner before he looks around the table and glances towards Junior.

"Still angry huh buddy?" Gabriel asks when the boy does not even look up.

"Mom, I don't talk with men who hurts the women in their life please notify everyone" the boy grumbles making all of them chuckle.

"Come on bud" Gabriel smiles looking at his nephew who glares his way.

"I will not let you divorce her," he vows and Gabriel's smile widens.

"I will not, promise. But you need to help me bud, you know where she is?" he asks and the boy shakes his head no.

"We have not been able to catch up with each other lately, but"

"What is it?" Gabriel asks sounding desperate.

"Umm...well, will it be bad if I broke a promise?" the boy asks as he looks around the table.

"Junior, if breaking the promise means saving someone's life then there is no harm in doing so," Kathleen states as she holds his hand in assurance.

"Well, in that case, you see someone has been hurting Am" the boy states and Damien holds Gabriel as he goes to stand up from his seat.

"Calm down" Damien warns Gabriel before asking his son to continue.

"Uh, we both shared our secrets one day, I told her about dad's real identity and she told me her secret...

You see umm...Am, uh she cannot read"

"What?"

"She has dyslexia, it's hard for her to read anything, she tries but cannot understand and ends up with a headache for weeks"

"Junior how do you know all of this?" Damien asks as everyone at the table sits in silence.

"Well, remember the day you asked her to baby-sit, well I was having some trouble with my homework that is when I knew she could not read anything but she made me promise not to tell anyone...

I searched in Internet about why it is hard for her to read and I came up with this site, which explained a person who has dyslexia has a hard time doing a few things...

Well, I did try to teach her to read and write but she could not understand at all. I was secretly teaching her to read by showing her pictures of things, she can recognize things by seeing how they look or their structure"

"So, that is why you two were always so secretive" Kathleen comments as realization dawns on her.

"She wanted to learn things faster so Uncle Gabe won't hurt her"

"What the fu..." Gabriel goes to shout but once again, Damien stops him.

"Who is hurting her Damon?" Damien asks in a serious tone and the boy gulps.

"Her mother" Junior states and a eerie silence falls on them.

"Gabe" Damien follows his cousin who storms out of the room, in anger.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck" Gabriel shouts as he pulls his hair, as he does not know what was going on any longer.
