Aiko's POV
I came home with tears rolling down my face.
"Aiko! What's wrong?" Mom asked as she came to me.
"It's...papa! I hate him!" I cried.
"Honey! Why ever would you say that?!" Mom was shocked.
"I meant a new wolf friend and we were playing in the fields until a big wolf came by and papa scared him off and my friend too! I was so mad an-"
"You forgot that your friend was a BOY!" Papa interrupted with a reindeer at his feet.
"He was just a friend, papa! Why do you have to be so over dramatic?!" I barked.
"Honey! How dare you!" Mom barked at papa. "Aiko was having fun until you ruined it!"
"I was protecting her!"
"From what?!"
"Danger from guys!"
"Oh, so I guess she's gotta stay away from you!"
"The only guy she can hang with is me!"
"WELL I DONT WANT TO HANG OUT WITH YOU!!!" I yelled at papa.
The den was silent. Mom had a shocked, worried face and papa had a shocked, angry face. I thought what I said and I got scared of what papa was gonna say.
"Aiko. Go. To. Bed." Papa murmured loud enough to hear.
Mom tried to stop papa from making that decision. "But honey, it's only no-"
"I said go to bed! I'm going to hunt." Papa said while he leaves.
I stood there in shock, unable to move. I felt the tears forming in my eyes. I walked to the very back of the den and laid down.
"Aiko... Can I tell you a story?" Mom asked.
"Is it a bed time story?" I grumbled.
"No, it's a story about me and when I was a young wolf." Mom smiled.
I was almost old enough to live on my own and since I had 7 brothers and 2 sisters, I got away from the den so many times. I would run in the fields and laugh all day. Then, one day, I bumped into another wolf. It was your father. We became friends. Every day, we'd meet each other and play all day. We did this for years until we got married. When I said "I do" I realized something... Out here... There are no rules out here, you can be free all day and all night. Your father just forgot that.

"Aiko. Go. Go be free. It's what your destiny wants, right?"
"Yes, it does." I stood up and walked outside, then ran into the fields. I love being free.

(A/N): the picture of the wolf on top is Aiko's mom when she was young and the field she is in is the same field she met Aiko's dad and the field Aiko plays in.
