»Rebel«

"Lady Rebel, wake up." A small voice said. I groaned and blinked at the blinding sunlight. Rin looked at me and smiled. "It's time to get moving. We are going to Lord Sesshomaru's castle." She said.

"Ok." I said. I got up and grabbed my Dakataki. I followed Rin as she skipped beside me. I spotted a rare black rose. "Look, Rin, a black rose." I pointed to it. She gasped and ran to it.

"Wow, Lady Rebel. It's beautiful." She said. She reached out to touch it.

"Careful, Rin. Don't touch it. They are poisonous. Have you ever seen a white rose?" I asked. She shook her head.

"They are much more safer. Here." I crouched and flattened my palm. A white rose began to grow from my hand. I picked it and put it in her coal black hair. She giggled.

"It's so pretty." She said. I smiled.

  "Rebel." Sesshomaru called.

"Come on Rin." I said as I walked up, beside him.

"Yes, My Lord?" I asked. He seemed a bit agitated by the formality used, but he brushed it off.

"We have arrived." He huffed and gestured forward. I looked up and saw a metal gate and two guards.

"Welcome back, Your Highness." The guards bowed.

"The other lords arrived here not long ago, my Lord, they await you in the dining hall." Said the guard on the left. He was quite gruff. His long hair braided down his back.

"Thank you, Mikon." Sesshomaru said. He walked past the guard. "Rin. Go play in the garden with Dirana for bit." He said. Rin squealed and ran off. "Biako!" He called. A young boy about Rin's age came running.

"Yes, My Lord." He bowed. His ears pricked. I noticed his ears were shaped like a wolf's.

"This is Rebel Atikana. Will you please show her to her room?" He asked the boy. The bowed again.

"Yes, My Lord." I watched Sesshomaru walk away.

"My Lady, shall we?" The boy asked me. He held out his hand. I nodded and accepted it.

»Sesshomaru«

I sighed in aggravation. Might as well get this over with, as I entered the dining hall. Two elders rose.

"Lord Sesshomaru. Welcome back, I trust you had a good trip." Lord Darius smiled. I sneered at the elder. I knew he was playing. We have been feuding for years.

"Now, Lord Darius, is that how you treat Lord Sesshomaru. Hello Sesshomaru." Lord Sajio greeted kindly. I bowed.

"Please, be seated. I hope I haven't left you waiting long." I said as I sat down.

"Not at all. Before we get down to the main issue, Sesshomaru, meet Lord Finaki. As you know Lord Piolud died, so his son is now ruling the northern regions." Sajio gestured to young fox demon sitting next to him. "Now, reports?"

"Eastern lands are holding well. We have only had 7 attacks and lost 2 villages. There is a rogue demon wandering around but my men have been on full alert." Darius said. I almost snorted out loud at his self consciousness. He is so absorbed with himself and army of demons could attack and he wouldn't care.

"Sesshomaru?" Sajio asked me. I sighed.

"Not much. I have destroyed over 15 rogue demons. Other than a certain irritating hanyou, my lands are holding fine." I said. Darius snorted.

"Is Inuyasha actually that much of a trouble for someone as strong and indifferent as you, the mighty Lord Sesshomaru, Demon Lord of the Western lands, son of the Mighty Demon Lord Inu-Taisho?" He torted. Anger flared.

"Lord Darius, if you could kindly close your mouth, I would greatly appreciate it. You are filling my castle with your negative aura." I asked.

"Lord Sesshomaru, Lord Darius, please try to control yourselves. Lord Finaki?" Sajio scolded.

"The Northern regions are not holding so well. We have had a group of rogue demons attacking our villages. Killing the men and taking women, children, livestock, and crops. We have lost multiple villages and several men." Lord Finaki said.

"Ah. We will discuss more on that later. As for me no new reports. The lands and crops are holding fine. Now for the main issue. Sesshomaru, have you found a mate yet?" Sajio asked. I mentally scowl. I knew that would be coming up soon.

"No. This Sesshomaru has no need for a companion." I mumbled.

"I understand Sesshomaru, but without a mate there won't be an heir to the Western lands. I do apologize, but you must have a mate by the next seasonal ball or we will decide a mate for you." Sajio said. I saw the pity in his eyes.

"Is that all Sajio?" I asked. He nodded. "Then if you'll excuse me, I have a guest to attend to." I bowed and left. As I exited the room I noticed a small movement.

"Hasn't anyone taught you it is rude to eavesdrop, Rebel?" I looked at the night demon before me.
