~Carmen~
At around 1 am the fourth movie me and Xavier were watching came to a close and he sat up, yawning. "I think I'm gonna head to bed Car." He said as he stood and moved towards the stairs.
"Ok, I'll be up soon." I say, clicking the TV off with the remote that was lying next to me.
He nods, turning and walking up the stairwell towards one of the guest bedrooms. I stand up, folding the blanket that was wrapped around me and placing it over the back of the cream colored couch before picking up the empty soda cans and plates and walking towards the kitchen, humming a melody that had been stuck in my head for the last two hours.
Once everything was straightened up I walked upstairs, now mumbling a few lyrics under my breath and went right past my bedroom going instead to the secret stairs up to the attic that I had redone when i bought the house. It was also where a lot of my songs have been written . No one - not even Xavier knows about it.
Once I arrived I grabbed my acoustic guitar and walked right over to the window seat and sat down, stretching my legs out and placing my guitar on my lap and opening my song book. I strum the melody on my guitar then write down the chords in the notebook. The few lyrics I've come up with also get written down. "Your eyes leave me breathless, your eyes keep me guessing." I sing while playing the chords I had so far. Nodding my head in approval.
I kept writing and singing until the song was almost finished. Glancing at the clock I noticed it was already 4 am so I put my guitar away and went back downstairs.
As I walked past the guest room where Xavier was sleeping he spoke. "Hey where were you?" He asked, causing me to look into the room.
"Oh I just couldn't sleep, sorry if I woke you." I answered, purposely avoiding the question of where I was.
"Oh alright, do you wanna come lay down?" He asks. To anyone else this would be an extremely weird question but whenever I couldn't sleep when we were younger we would always fall asleep in the same bed.
"Sure." I say, walking into the room and to the bed, climbing into the opposite side of it.
A few minutes later I could tell Xavier was asleep or close to it but I was still wide awake. My head was swirling with thoughts on the song I was working on. Songs like that normally have a specific event or person in mind that inspires me to write them but this one just didn't. But for some reason it felt so real. The emotion it portrayed seemed like one I was experiencing, falling so hopelessly in love that you couldn't stop even if you wanted to, and you don't want to stop it. I shook my head, convincing myself I was going crazy, and drifted off to sleep.
