The day Jeff had decided to rip my heart into shreds without any form of mercy flashed in my fragile memory as he walked over to an empty cafeteria table with, her.

It was always her. With her stupid Auburn hair, stylishly framed glasses, nice curved figure and overall flawlessless, it was no surprise that he was with her.

It had always been her. I'd never had a chance.

My food no longer seemed eat able, and instead resembled a bunch of white, mushy worms on a plastic plate. I pushed it as far away from me as possible and further protected my face with my hoodie.

It seemed the whole cafeteria was looking at me, waiting for a reaction.

I wasn't going to give them one, so I instead tried to act brave and look each and every one of them straight in the eyes.

A week ago, they'd all been my friends. Ten weeks ago, they hadn't even know my name. Now, they all hated me without knowing the truth.

It was nearly impossible to miss the smirk conner had on his face, a smirk directed at me when Jeff and Melody, his new yet old girlfriend pressed a soft, passionate and light kiss to each others lips.

I felt like I was intruding a private scene.

Suddenly needing air, I quickly grabbed my back pack and ran out of the cafeteria as fast as my cheap converse would allow me.

The cold air and wet grass hit me first as I walked across the schools garden. I was going to be safe there. No Jeff, no melody, no conner.

Conner. He really hated me. And even though it shouldn't have hurt, it did. It hurt that he would judge without knowing me. That he automatically assumed that all the rumours were correct.

I plumped my bag on the grass beside the large oak tree that stood in the middle of the garden in all its glory.

Maybe it'd protect me.

Once I'd sat down-my legs folded amongst each other in a meditation style- I rested my back on the bark of the oak tree and brought out a novel - Pride and Prejudice - and my granola bar and set to work.

It had hardly been ten minutes when different footsteps had headed my way and were now standing in front of me.

I looked up from my book, only to to see Melody Clayton 's friends. There was Anna, with her deep red waist length hair and golden brown eyes and Ronda with her shoulder length Auburn hair and dark eyes.

They both stared at me with disgust and reproach. They were blocking the little sunlight I had.

"I can't believe he even thought about screwing her over melody" Anna snickered, motioning to me with her foot, kicking me straight in the ribs. I winced from the pain but made no move to respond. Maybe they'd beat me up and get over it.

Ronda, who was right beside her best friend eyed me up and down before choosing to comment. "She's such a sl*t. I can't believe she cheated on Jeff, and actually had the guts to try defending her actions when it was clear he and melody belonged together from the onset"

I saw her foot preparing to strike. If she was to try and kick me, it would land straight on my chin, probably crushing a bone and leaving a really nasty bruise.

Her foot lifted off the floor, and I closed my eyes and waited for the impact.. But it never came.

When I decided to take a leap of faith and open my eyes, my vision was directed to Conner Maxfield who had both girls over his shoulders and was now walking back into the main school building.

Had I started seeing things?
