Driving to school the next day I was trying not to think of how the day would go.  The normal oh how was your weekend question.  And everyone’s robotic oh it was good, great, fun were the expected responses.  Then the PDA was another thing I couldn't stand.  People decide it's totally okay to block the halls to make out.  Uh no, not cool.

The day went by pretty fast.  Most classes I just did the work that was required and kept to myself.  Occasionally I heard the, oh my god did you hear that she cheated on him or they just broke up/got together.  I was so sick of hearing about that.

At lunch I was in and out of occasional conversations that came and went.  I sat with Kara and some of her friends.  Most of the time though I zoned out lost in thought.  Then I heard Kara trying to get my attention.

"Hello?  Libby? Are you even here?"

I glanced up at her.  "Mmm sorry what?  Did you say something?"

"Yes I did actually," she said laughing.  "Who knows where you were.  But as I was saying before, how are things with your guy friend?"

"Oh you mean Adrian?"

"So that's his name then?  That's such a hot name.  Tell me what happened."  She was grinning at me.  I knew that look in her eyes, she wanted the details.  No way was I going to tell her everything.

"Um yeah," I responded.  "Well he just offered to take me home after work cause my car was brig serviced.  I must have fallen asleep and I ended up at his place.  We had dinner and then he took me home.  Nothing really that great."

"Eeeek!  I'm so happy for you," she squealed with delight.

"Woah, hold on there girlie.  Nothing that great happened.  He was just being nice to me."

"Yeah but he took you to his house.  That has to count for something."

"I doubt it," I muttered.  "I don't want to get my hopes up too high.  Like Shakespeare says expectation is the root of all heartbreak."  I sighed.  My days with free time are mostly spent thinking.

"Don't say that!  You never know what could happen.  Take a chance for once, and step out of this rut you have been in for the last couple months."

I was relieved that Kara still was looking out for me in some type of way.

"Well since you're so interested then I will keep you posted the best I can."

Kara nodded and grinned.  Then the bell rang and she was off talking with her other friends and I was left to walk alone to my next class.

Walking aimless through the grocery store after school I didn't even realize that I bumped into someone.

"Sorry," I mumbled.  Walking on I didn't even take a glance at the person I ran into.

"Hey Libby is that you?" a voice called out to me.  I turned around to see where it came from. The man had familiar two different colored eyes and golden brown hair.  His name was on the tip of my tongue Tyler.  No Thomas, wait, no, that didn't seem right either.

He approached me, and I looked in his two different colored eyes.

"How have you been Libby?"

"Hey," I said slowly back.  I felt bad for not remembering his name.

"You don't remember me do you?"  He was grinning at me as if he could tell by the look on my face.  I looked down reluctantly.

He just laughed and shook my shoulder lightly.
