I opened my eyes, only to see a white room, surrounded by...nothing, absolutely nothing.
"Hello?" I yelled, lo, lo, lo the echo came.
I heard a keyboard click. Then multiple clicks followed it.
"Hello?" I asked again. The keyboard stopped, and then it continued, but no reply.
"Where am I?" I asked again.
"What do you remember last?" A hoarse voice crackled out of nowhere.
"Where am I? Who are you?"
"Answer first," the voice said.
"I remember...falling into the water, almost reaching the very bottom, and then...everything blacked out and now I'm here," I responded,"Wait! Am I dead? I'm in heaven?"
"Yes. And I am the Returner," it said. Then a "human" emerged out of the fog. He had black short curly hair, and was wearing a tuxedo.
"What...What's that?" I asked.
"I return people. Into dead people,"
"Huh?" I was so confused.
"Here," he motioned me over to where his keyboard was. "See this return key?" He said hovering his finger above the return key which was right above the shift key. "This is where it all happens. You press it, you go into a dead person's body and they become alive again, but in a new identity which is you."
"Still confused," I say. "Press it!"
"No!"
"Why not?" I ask.
"You must be under some circumstances and you must have a guardian, a person to look over for you, a person to make sure that you don't tell anyone about this "return" and that you are a new person. You cannot tell anyone about this. ANYONE. Not even your friends, family, you must live as a new person, a new identity." He said.
"But how will I know everyone and get used to it?" I ask.
"You will know, but for now, I haven't allowed you to continue anyways," he said.
"WELL JUST PRESS IT!" I yelled, frustrated at all the rules. I pushed his hands away from the keyboard and pressed the return button.
