I fluttered my eyes open only to realize, I was surrounded by people I didn't know.

"ZARA! Are you okay?" A small girl, about 9 years old with dark black hair and brown eyes. I couldn't muster anything. Where was I? I thought I was dead! Who are these people? Then after a few seconds, I remembered that I had pressed the return button only moments ago.

"Huh, oh my head hurts a bit. Tell me the story. What happened to me again?" I asked trying not to create suspicion that really Zara was dead.

The girl sat down next to me, the older two people, most likely the parents kneeled down, "You...you were...having a surgery--," she replied.

"For what?" I interrupted.

"Your leg. It was contaminated with bacteria that wasn't supposed to be there. They finished it a week ago, and I remember your heart was beating really slow. They said you were losing a lot of blood," the girl replied. I was about to ask what the girl's name was, but it would've been awkward to ask a family member and forget their name!
"Are you feeling better honey?" the older woman said, most likely the mom. She sat down on the hospital bed and stroked my hair.

"Huh? Sort of," I groaned. Even though I wasn't supposed to tell her that Zara had actually died and that I was someone else, I felt bad for everyone who knew Zara.

"Okay, we'll be back tomorrow at 8 again," the older man said.

"Mom, Dad, she knows, we always visit her at 8!" the 9 year old girl said seeming annoyed.

"VIOLET!" Mom said.

"Jeez," Violet whispered.

"Okay see you tomorrow Zara!" Dad said. I just smiled and they turned off the lights and left the hospital for the day. How was I ever going to fit in as Zara? This is such a weird life. I started to regret pushing the return button. I closed my eyes, wishing this day was over and I was back as Elaine Hemm.
