As she walked up the hill, she tried to decide what she would say to him. She reached the top before she found an answer. She laid down beside Jimi, who was staring up at the starry black sky. Neither one spoke for a few minutes. They just concentrated on the bright stars above them.

Jimi looked at her for no longer than three seconds and looked back up. He didn't want her to know that he looked at her, but damn she was beautiful. The light of the stars hit her face just right. Of course, she was always beautiful, but on that night, she was even more beautiful.

Karen had millions of things running through her mind. What she would say, what he would say back, how it would play out. She still couldn't find the words. It was as if she was restricted from talking for some reason.

Jimi didn't care if she said something or not, her being there just made him happy. There was a connection between them two that nobody else understood and Jimi felt that connection right then and there. He hadn't felt it since before Karen found him with Lauren. Lauren didn't make him feel that way. He didn't think anybody ever would make him feel that away again. Karen was the only one. Jimi wanted to tell Karen that nothing happened between him and Lauren. All they did was kiss, so Karen was the only one he ever slept with. She was the only one who he ever wanted to sleep with. There was passion between them. It wasn't for fun, Jimi really felt something with her and that meant a lot to him.

Karen finally voiced her opinion. She rolled over with her arms on the grass, supporting her weight. "J, look at me."

Jimi turned his head to face Karen.

"There's some things that I've been meaning to say. I just couldn't find the words." She looked at his face. His brown eyes glowed in the black of night. There were butterflies fluttering in her stomach. "You were my one and only. I thought we would be together forever. You were my best friend, my rock. The one I went to for help or support. Then that all changed when Lauren came into the picture. I know it was a mistake, but I can't get her out of my mind. What did she have that I didn't?" Karen's eyes started to become glassy.

Jimi felt so bad for making Karen feel that way. "Karen don't ever feel that way. You have way more than Lauren ever did. She was just the one I ran to when I needed someone."

"That makes me feel so much better." Karen said on the verge of crying.

"That's not what I meant. Karen, Lauren was just a fling. You were everything to me and I felt lost when you became distant. We never did anything. I didn't feel that way about her. Only you."

That made Karen feel a little better. "You didn't do anything?"

Jimi pushed her hair behind her ears. "No. She was not the one. You are. You have always been the one."

Karen blushed at the statement.

"I love you Karen Fairchild. Always have, always will. Never forget that."

"J, I love you too." She didn't mean to say it, it just kinda slipped out. In a way she was glad it slipped out. She finally told him how she felt.

Jimi was taken back. "Did you just say you love me?"

"Yes Jimi. I love you. Even after all the damn heartache you put me through."

"But I won't do it again."

"If you do it again, there will be no other chance of you getting me back."

"I don't need another chance. I have you now and that's all I could ask for." He leaned up, still laying on the grass.

Out of habit, Karen leaned down and their lips touched. His lips on hers felt the same as they always had. Perfect.
