beautiful

Her eyes twinkled as she looked at me. So calm yet so excited. She looked as me as she stood, holding my hand, trying to pull me up. "No, you dance," I said weakly. She lazily walked over to the radio, her eyes closed, hands above her head, humming a tune she had probably just made up.

Her delicate finger, clicked the on button, and music began to flow out of the speakers. "Okay, who listens to classical music these days?" she muttered. She played with the knobs on the radio, looking for her favorite station.

As she searched, a nurse came in to check on me. "Hey there, how are you doing?" the nurse asked.

"I'm doing alright, I'm just, watching her," I replied.

"She's a beautiful girl. You've got yourself a keeper. Has she left yet? How long has she been here?" the nurse asked as she checked my pulse.

"A few days, she likes to watch over me." The nurse smiled at me, one last time, and left the room.

As she left, I began to think of the word she used to describe my girlfriend. Beautiful. Although she was, that wasn't quite the word to describe her. Her appearance would be explained as plainly beautiful, if that. Her appearance wasn't special to anyone really, except to me and herself. She had typical, shoulder length brown hair, brown eyes. She had a heart shaped face, her jaw jutted out slightly, her cheekbones were hardly noticeable due to her adorable chubby cheeks. Her body wasn't the most amazing, but it was nice to me. She was curvy, a little chubby on the legs and stomach, but still absolutely gorgeous.

"Hey! You daydreaming, babe?" she shook her hands in my face. I shook my head at her. We both smiled before she threw her hands in the air and began to dance to the music. She closed her eyes and moved around effortlessly. Her hips moved to the music, her shoeless feet spun around on the floor, moving her across the room.

Her true beauty, however, began to show as she danced across the hospital room. Her passion and happiness was revealed as she danced. Everyone says beauty is on the inside, but it isn't obvious until one does something they're passionate about.  Her inner beauty came through as she spun in circles, swayed her hips. Her happiness, love, compassion blossomed as she danced around the hospital room.

She twirled and stopped at my bedside. She clutched my hand and her eyes locked with mine again. My vision became blurry, black blotches came across it as well. My chest tightened, my breaths slowing and becoming more labored.

"Ana, are you okay?" my girlfriend's hand tightened around mine. I shook my head. "Nurse! She's going under, please come now!"

My eyes fluttered closed, black being the only thing I saw. "You're beautiful," I murmured before going into oblivion.
