Chapter 2- Rabbits&Dinner
My eyes widen in realisation. This isn't ink... it's blood.
For the second time in the space of 20 minutes I vomit til I can vomit no more.
3 Hours Before
Belle and I make our way to the pet shop. I personally don't like this place. The thought of all the animals in cages and locked up makes me shudder, but Belle has always wanted a bunny rabbit so I thought today is the day to buy her one. She hasn't been taking moms death well, no one has really, especially me. But as I'm her older brother it's my job and responsibility to be strong for her, my mom would have wanted me to do that. I lead the way from the car to the shop. We walk in line with one another but as soon as we enter the shop that changes. Belle runs ahead of me smiling, I haven't seen her smile in a long time.
She parades the aisles as she takes in all the rabbits around her. I watch as she stops in front of one. "Reece! Reece! I want this bunny rabbit! It's nice and fluffy!" Belle shouts, excitement evident in her voice and posture.
I make my way over to where she is standing. I look at the white rabbit she has chosen and I can't help the small smile that creeps up onto my face. Trust Belle to pick one like that. "Belle you can only have a bunny rabbit If you clean the cage and feed it because I will not go around scooping rabbit poo!"
"Okay, I will!" Belle practically screams.
"Promise?" I ask.
"Pinky promise" she replies.
"Okay then!" I say giving in, I can never say no to her. We intertwine our pinkies with one another's before I call for a worker.
I reverse the car before doing a U-turn and speeding down the road. We are on our way home in the car with Fluffles Azizi- Yeah he has our second name; Belle insisted. Belle is sitting at the back talking to the newest member of our family. I can't help but eavesdrop. "...And I'm going to make you dinner In a bit and you can sleep in my warm bed and you can also play with my toys! We are going to have so much fun Fluffles!" I can't help but laugh.
"Reece! Stop laughing you are scaring poor Fluffles!" Belle shouts at me.
"Okay! okay!," I pull my lips into a thin line to stop the laughter from tumbling out, "We are home now." I tell her a few minutes later.
She runs out the car and I follow. Our house isn't that big house with the big black gates or the fancy garden. That's what people expect you to say when you tell them you live in New York but I don't live in the classy areas I live in the 'ghetto' where rough stuff happen all the time, every corner of the block has something is always happening either a stabbing or a house that just got robbed. That's why the police are not taking my mothers death seriously because stuff like this happens almost as a weekly thing. That's why I'm taking my mother's death into my own hands. My thoughts are broken as my phone rings. I look at the phone screen. Lily. I can't help the smile that breaks out onto my face just by seeing her name. Call me whipped but, gosh I love her. She means the world to me and one day I will make her my wife. She is the biggest reasons as to why I am coping with my mom's death.
"Hi Beautiful. Where have you been all day? I wanted to take you to get Belle a rabbit."
"Hey Babe and I been busy just been catching up with uni work." she replies
"Aw! Poor you! Are you going to come down? Or you still busy?"
"Babe I can't come down today. I am just so busy. Sorry baby." She replies
"Ohhh... Okay I'll speak to you later I'm going to make dinner."
"Make? More like order!" She laughs and I my smile widens at the melodic sound.
"Hush! I am no Gordan Ramsey!" I laugh
"Okay! I talk to you later love you!!" She says as she giggles.
"Love You too boo!" With that being said I hang up and make my way into the house and in the kitchen. I can already hear Belle upstairs fixing Fuffles up in his new home. I can't help but chuckle at how crazy and innocent she is. I shake my head before I check the cupboards for some edible food. I shake my head at the food we have in currently. Need to do some shopping. I grab a few food leaflets lying about. Recently that is all we have been eating. Let's just say I'm not the best cook out there. I smile as I remember the time mom tried to teach me how to cook telling me that girls find it majorly attractive. At the time my player ways lived within in me and I would do anything to get into a girl's pants.
That all changed when I met Lily though. She changed me. For the good. I mentally thank her for coming into my life and for sticking by me. Let's just say it was not easy to get along with me a few years ago. But that girl... she is definitely persistent.
As my eyes run over the leaflets nothing sticks out to me so I call out for Belle.
Belle what do you want for dinner?!" I yell from the bottom of the stairs, I wait for a response but get none, "Belle!". I swear down this girl is purposely ignoring me. Minutes go by as I wait for a reply. After mom's death I keep alert at all times and when I don't get a response I start to get worried. It is weirdly silent I can't even hear anything. "Belle? Are you okay?" I asked as I walk up the stairs but I get no answer. I warn her by telling her that I am coming in and once again I don't hear anything in response. I know what you are thinking; weird right? I have to give her a warning because she ends up shouting at me if I don't, telling me that 'I'm invading her privacy'. The girl is only nine! Before I can even knock on the door I realise that it is wide open. This is getting really weird, her door is never open. I step Into her room and my eyes scan the room to see if I can spot her brown hair. I do spot it but when I do I wish I never. I run over to her and I turn her body over and I feel bile rise up my throat.
I leap away from her body but continue to stare at it. There she lays with all her flesh on show. She's been skinned. Once the thought processes I throw up anything I had in my stomach. I heave until my mouth goes dry, As I continue to stare I realise that Fluffles is laying on top of her and once again he has been skinned. I scan her room checking for any route to enter or exit. I see her window wide open. I look out the window to see if I can see anyone trying to escape. I run out her room and downstairs. I open the front door and make run down our street, We live on a cul de sac so whoever it was could of gone only one way. I run until I can run no more. There is nobody around. No-one.
I run back to my house. Once in I call the police and give them whatever information they need. I run back up to her room and the urge to gag hits me again. I cover my mouth with a near by top to block the foul smell out. Being in the room again I notice something I didn't see before. On the wall written in red ink is written 'Let this be a warning'. I walk over to it and my eyes widen in realisation. This isn't ink... its blood.
For the second time in the space of 20 minutes I vomit til I can vomit no more.
Murderer's POV
I can't help the laugh that slips through my lips. I watch as he cries to himself alone in his house. 2-nil to me. I hope he understood my message because I meant what I said.
I'm only just starting and I'm already winning.
A/N: Hi guys! It is currently half two in the morning and I just finished editing it. It has taken me HOURS. Like almost five to be exact! So tired, but I hope this is worth it! I have nothing else to say other than I hope you enjoyed it.
