Chapter 4- The Wedding
I roll my eyes in annoyance. Grandma Carmen walks past me and to the bottom of the stairs. "Will you girls hurry up! I am an old person! I can't afford to stand all day while to bake your face in make-up! I am going to die before this wedding even takes place!" I can't help but chuckle at my gran.
I pat my gran on the back as I promise to bring them all down. I walk up the stairs before knocking on the door in which the bride stands behind. A chorus of 'come in!' comes through the door. I smile before twisting the door knob and opening the door. A massive group is surrounding Rylee all standing in awe at her. I walk through them and place my hand on her shoulder. She turns around to face me and I find my mouth dropping in shock. To say she looks beautiful is an understatement.
Rylee likes to stand out and be 'unique' and her outfit does fit that checklist. In complete opposite to a typical bride, Rylee is wearing black. Yes. Black. Her dress falls to the floor with a trail standing behind her. Gold embroidery begins from the left corner of her sweetheart neckline and crosses across her top half and down her back and ends at the end of her trail. Her friery red hair stands in loose curls and ends by her waist. As usual she can't be the same as anyone else so instead of a tiara she has a Greek inspired flower crown that is made up of white and gold roses. In her hands she holds her bouquet that matches her flower crown; and is made up of red and gold roses.
I take a step closer to her and hug her. I whisper in her ears, "You look absolutely stunning. Your parents would be so proud." I feel her arms wrap around me tighter.
"Reece! You're going to ruin her! Let go!" I chuckle at Jasmine. I pull back. I see Rylee checking me out.
"You look good in a suit Reece. If I wasn't in love with Riley and you weren't my cousin..." She winks at me and I throw my head back in laughter.
Jasmine stomps her feet and I look down at her and automatically I am reminded of Belle. My heart aches in memory. Rylee must have noticed the sadness that attacked me and I see the concern burning in her eyes. I shake my head and plaster a smile onto my face. "Let's go guys!" Rylee links arms with me and we all begin our way down the stairs.
* * * *
"The power invested in me and God, I hereby pronounce you man and wife. You may now kiss the bride."
Everyone uproars into cheer and I see Rylee and Riley look at each other before meeting halfway and completing their first kiss as husband and wife. A couple of seconds later they pull away and smile at everyone. Riley offers his hand to his wife, and when she takes it they both make their way down the aisle. I smile at their retreating back thinking into the future, when that will be me and Lily. My heart jumps a beat at the though of making Lily become my Mrs Azizi.
It's not long later that we are all at the reception. The whole of the reception is covered in black and gold flowers, with red candles on the table and rose petals covering the whole floor.
"Everyone clap your hands together for Mr and Miss Jones!" As the guests begin clapping, I can't help but laugh at the song they chosen Beauty And A Beat For real? As I sit back down and I look at Lily to see her dancing and singing to the song. She looks so cute. I must have been staring at her for too long because she catches my eye but before either of us can say anything, the groom calls for our attention.
"I just want to thak you all for coming in today to celebrate the best day of my life, I cannot explain how I am feeling right now. I can finally call this beautiful women my wife and it gives me the greatest joy. I hope one day every single one of you, if you haven't already, find the happiness I am feeling today." I feel someone grabbing my hand under the table when I turn to my left I see Lily looking at me and smiling. I wink back while mouthing 'I love you'
I turn back my attention to the best man. "...And I remember the time when Rylie told me that he actually liked this girl who ended up being Rylee, I was truly gobsmacked because who knew this player over here would end up getting married three years down the line." Everyone started laughing at Ben's best man speech. Next thing I know I am up on that stage ready to do my speech.
"Guys I don't even know were to begin. First of all congratulations to my beautiful cousin and her amazing husband. You guys make one awesome couple. Who would have thought three years down the line my little Rylee would be married. Even though she is older than me I will always see her as my little sister and will do anything to protect her. Aunty and Belle would have loved to be here but I know for a fact they would be looking down on you and smiling. I wish you both all the happiness in the world." I hold my glass up and bow my head before walking off the stage. The guests clap and I can't help but smile. Before taking a seat I walk over to Rylee and give her a hug and whisper that I love her. She thanks me for everything before I take my seat again.
I walk over to Lily and give her a kiss. "This will be us one day and I know you will look beautiful." I see her blush at my words but doesn't give me a reply. Dinner is served and only then do I realise that I am starving. Everyone tucks into their food.
Time begins to fly by as I dance, laugh and talk with the girl of dreams. In the hours I spend with her I forget about the pain and worry of losing my mother and sister and the killer after them. Mid-dance I hear a girl screaming. The scream is so loud, that everyone stops what they are doing and the music fades. When the girl screams for help again, everyone rushes out of the room and towards the voice. Lily grabs my hand and I pull her with me. I realise that we are all running towards to the ladies bathroom. I push people out of the way, not caring about the rude remarks and dirty looks they give me. This is going to be something bad. The feeling continues to knaw at my heart. Once I am at the front, I stop, frozen. My heart drops into my stomach as I let go of Lily's hand. I barely register her small gasp before tears are brimming in my eyes.
I drop down to my knees unable to take my eyes away from my cousin. Somebody walks over to her and pulls her head out of the toilet before letting out a scream and dropping the body. I crawl over to her and her blue face causes a strangled noise to come out of my throat. Who the fuck would do this? All of a sudden instead of hurt I feel anger. I get up and walk out of the building. Whoever it was can't have gotten that far. My walk turns into a run and vengeance runs though my veins burning my body.
I keep running but when I see nobody around I turn back around to the chaos. I push the past people and take my cousin into my arms. I push her hair back and something black catches my eye at the top of her shoulder; the letter R. My fingers brush over it and I know then that whoever killed her, killed mom, Belle and Fuffles. What does this person want? Why is he killing everyone I know? Not wanting to think about all of this I lower her body and leave the bathroom. I walk back into the room where just a few minutes I was happy. Without realising I walk over to Rylee's seat. My legs not being able to take this anymore I pull her seat out. A red rose catches my attention along with a photograph.
I feel bile rising in my throat at the image in front of me. What kind of sick person takes out an image of a dead body? I need to get out of this place. I pocket the picture and take the rose with me. I don't stop for anyone or anything instead I pick up my pace and sprint away from this evil.
Murderer's POV
I watch as he runs away. What a coward. My lips rise into a snarl and I think about his cowardice. Is this the kind of person I made him? I see a girl come out and my anger rises as I see his girlfriend looking around. She needs to be removed from this game. I watch as she enters the building again.
Keep running Reece but I will find you.
