Track 19: Main Character of the Play

Two days na ang nakakalipas simula ng makalabas ako ng hospital at ngayon nandito ako sa office ni Sir Bong bigla na lang niya kasi ako ipinatawag. I wonder kung bakit niya ako pinatawag. Nakaupo lang ako sa sofa habang hinihintay siya nung biglang bumukas ang pinto at may pumasok na isang magandang babae.

This girl... I've seen her somewhere. Pero saan nga ba? Saan ko nga ba siya nakita? 

Nilibot niya yung tingin nya sa buong office hanggang sa nahagip ng mga mata niya ang pwestong kinauupuan ko. She stares at me for a moment. The way she looks is intimidating. I smile at her but she didn't, instead, she just sat across the seat I was seating. Tahimik lang kami at walang kahit isa na nagtangkang magsalita sa aming dalawa. It's maybe because we're both strangers to each other.

Time has passed until Sir Bong came.

"Oh! You two are here." bati niya agad samin pagkatapos umupo siya sa may upuan sa table niya.

"What is this all about Sir Bong? Why did you call me here?" The girl asks.

Ah! I know.. I remember this girl. She was with Gray that night. She was supposed to play the lead singer but for some reasons she can't sing. I heard she lost her voice that day.

She's....

"Erika." Sir Bong utters. "The reason I ask you to come here is because of the upcoming variety show of the Musical Drama Club." paliwanag niya. Pareho kaming nakatingin sa kanya habang nagsasalita siya.

"I want you to be the under study. Erika." He said.

"What?" react ni Erika. "What do you mean under study? I thought I'll be the main singer for that event?" may gigil at diin sa bawat bigkas niya ng salita. 

"We'll that's the first plan but after the school festival competition the board of directors decided to change you from that post." Sir Bong said.

"No way! Why do they did that?" tanong ni Erika.

Sir Bong heave a sigh. "You see Erika, the school boards want to show something new. They said it's time for a change and so they decided to look for a new female lead. And you don't have to worry Erika you're still part of the play as support."  pabalik balik lang yung ulo ko sa kanila habang nagpapalitan sila ng mga salita.

Ano bang event yung pinaguusapan nila? Female lead? Ano bang meron? Naguguluhan ako sa pinaguusapan nila. I wonder kung tama pa bang nandito ako at nakaupo sa harap nila?

"So who will play that post?" Erika said.

Sir Bong smiles at her as he points his finger at me. "She." he said.

"What? / Ha?" sabay pa kami nagreact ni Erika. Wait. Wait. This is so confusing. Ano naman ang kinalaman ko sa play na yun.

"What are you saying?" and the table turns on me.

"Didn't you hear? I said you'll be part of the variety show of MD Club as the main lead." Sir Bong repeats.

"No! No way. That can't be. I won't let that happen. It should be me. What makes you decide that? No way."nag h-hysterical na si Erika. "I'll talk to the boards. Hindi ako papayag na siya. Bakit siya. What's so good about her? I waited for that event. I work so hard tapos ganun ganun na lang yun? Ibibigay nyo sa iba ng basta na lang no way." pagkasabi niya nito bigla na lang siyang nagtatakbo palabas ng office ni Sir Bong.

Samantalang ako nandun lang at nakaupo. Nagbuntong hininga na lamang si Sir Bong. "Geez. That girl. Pag ginusto niya talaga gusto niya." napapailing na lamang siya.

"I don't think I deserve that position."I said to Sir Bong Tama naman di ba? Hindi ko naman alam kung tungkol saan yung pinag uusapan bakit mapapasali ako dun. At saka tama naman si Erika pinaghirapan niya yung role na yun tapos ibibigay na lang nila sakin bigla. Isn't it unfair?

He looks at me then smirk. "And what makes you think that you don't deserve it?" he said.

Ano nga ba? 

Hmmm. Ah basta. I still think it's not right to give me that position. I don't even know what this is all about.

"We don't need someone who can just sing, we want someone who sings through the heart. We don't need someone who can just dance what we need is someone who gracefully dance." he said tapos lumapit siya sakin. "And we've seen that to you Abi." sabi pa niya.

"Wait. Sir. I don't really understand." sabi ko sa kanya pero nginitian nya lang ako. Ang hirap naman kasing kausap nitong si Sir Bong ang dami niya pa kasing sinasabi ayaw niya pa akong diretsuhin. 

"What I'm saying is. I want you to be part of the variety show of the MD club." he said.

"Variety Show?" sabi ko.

He nods. "Yes, variety show. It's an annual variety show held by the MD club."

I think I'm starting to understand everything. "You mean you want me to take part?" tanong ko.

He again nods. "But...." sabi ko.

"No buts Abi."  sabi niya sakin.

"Pero Sir Bong I haven't said yes." sabi ko sa kanya. "Will you give me time to think about it?"

He sigh. "Show is in two weeks we don't have much time so I hope I could have your answer right away. If possible I want to have your answer by tomorrow." pagkasabi ni Sir Bong nito umalis na ako sa office niya.

What should I do?

Should I accept it?

But how about Erika?

Aegh. This is making me crazy.
