I didn't choke, I breathed it in. My eyes shot open, I breathed in water. I started to squirm. I can breathe. I didn't know what to do as I continued to plunge lower in the sea, the knot was tightly bound around my ankles, there was no way I could get it off. I tried to start swimming up but I only sank lower. I huffed out bubbles and watched them rise.

I thought my death was going to be droning but it was worse, it was starvation. Suddenly my feet touched the sand below me, I couldn't see it but I could feel it. It was squishy and cold. My eye lids felt heavy in the darkness, I saw nothing so I just closed them. I tired to hear what was surrounding me but I all I heard was the water rushing around me. I brought my hands to my face and pushed all my lose drifting hair off of my face and let it swim around me. The water rushing through my hair made me tired. I sat down and let myself drift off to sleep.

I jolted awake to an ear piercing scream in the dark.
"Help me, please. Anyone!" It sounded like one of the other girls from the ship.
"Hello? Can you hear me?" I shouted back.
"Yes! Yes I can. Can you help me?" She seemed a little relieved at the sound of my voice.
"I wish I could but my feet are bound just like yours." I sighed.
"Elizabeth is that you?" I was taken back, she knew my name, was that ...?
"Minnie?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yes Elizabeth, it's me." Minnie had been my best friend for years, we were blood sisters. I was the whole reason we got in this position. I fancied Joshua a little too much, I convinced her to go on a simple date with Benjamin. They both seemed to really like each other so we agreed to be their first ladies on the ship. Little did we know they were married and this wasn't the first time they'd done this to women. Once we got aboard the ship there was another couple of women on the ship but not as many as the day we were thrown over board.

I began to cry.
"Minnie, I'm so sorry I got us into this mess." It was silent across the waters between us. I could hear all the sea life around me, but Minnie wasn't saying a word.
"How did this happen? Why are we still alive? At first when I hit the water I could only breathe air and now I can breathe water too. How?" She finally replied avoiding my apology.

Back in England me and Minnie had been dabbling in some pagon rituals. All the rituals we preformed required two blood sisters, which meant you were either family by blood or self made blood sisters. We cut x's in our left hands and smeared the blood together, binding us together forever in blood. We did little spells that brought us good things, things we wanted, didn't need but wanted. Now those spells brought us things we needed to live, a dreadful life, but we were living.

I thought for awhile before answering her.
"I said all the pagon rituals I knew before I was cast over board."
"Elizabeth, what does that have to do with me? Doesn't it take two people to complete the spells?"
"Minnie, were blood sisters, bound forever." My voice trailed off and I knew she was going to hate me for the little time we had left together but it was all my fault and I hated myself for it.
"Well we did something together a year ago so now were in this together. How do we get out?" She took the situation and tried to get out of it. I envied that in her.
"Minnie, I don't think there is a way out of this. Unless you can get your feet unbound, were stuck like this..."
"The knot is too tight and the seeds are too heavy." That was us for us then. This was the end, we were half naked and bound at the ankles.
