Looking up from my hands, I searched Nathaniel's face, searching for some change. His eyebrows were furrowed, his fingers were pulling at each other, and his Adam's apple moving slowly.
After a good five minutes, he finally turned his head to face me, catching my gaze. I watched as his mouth moved, forming words I couldn't hear.
"About last night..." he began, nervously swallowing.
A strong vibration in my butt caused me to jump reallllllly high. I looked up and saw a familiar cherry red Dodge Ram 4x4 sitting in my driveway. And, sitting in the driver's seat, was Laura.
With my eyes wide, I stood from my seat in the chair and ran down to stand by the truck. Laura stepped out of the beauty with a huge smile on her face.
You got it!I signed, my excitingness showing through my hands.
I know! I took the test this morning at eight and... Laura reached into her brown Tote bag, pulled out her wallet, and slid out the white piece of plastic.
She carefully placed it into my hands and I examined it, my eyes as wide as a little kid's on Christmas. The picture of Laura was funny, a huge, dorky smile on her face and her two thumbs next to her cheeks.
After reading the information, I handed the license back to her. Once she put it back into her wallet, and the wallet into her purse, she began signing.
Okay, so....DRESS SHOPPING! she signed, probably referring to the Spring Dance.
With a sigh, I threw my head back into the head rest. There was no use in arguing with her, I thought. So, for the whole ten minute drive, I sat in the seat, looking out of the window, making pig noses to the passing cars.
One car passed by, an old man driving it, and I smirked, making the 'call me' signal with my hands and giggled when he saw, his eyes wide. That's when I saw the familiar LSU football magnet on the car door and my eyes widened. There, sitting there in the white pick-up, sat my Algebra II teacher, Mr. Higgins.
Slapping Laura on the arm, I signed her to speed up, which she did, passing by Mr. Higgins and his astonishment. With a greatful sigh, I saw that we were in the mall parking lot.
We got out and walked into the building, the cool air hitting us like a snowball in a snowball fight. Not that I've ever been in one... Anyway, right after we passed the water fountain, she pulled me right into JC Penny's, scoping out the dresses.
Under eight minutes, I was in the dressing room, sitting in the really uncomfortable chair outside of the room that Laura was in, waiting for her to come out and model the dresses for me.
She walked out in a bright pink dress that had feathers glued across the boobs. Without even making a face, she walked back in and changed into another.
After trying on a purple duck one, a goose white one, a silver bead one, a bubble one like Lady Gaga, she finally walked out in a yellow one with a dark blue ribbon tied around the middle.
With a smile, I stood from my chair and walked around her in circles. After lifting the dress in the front so her boobs weren't almost falling out and it wasn't too short, I gave her a huge smile and nodded. She smiled back, did a little jump-twirl thing, and walked back into the room, changing back into her jeans and T-Shirt.
Once she was out, she looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
What? I signed, confused.
Your turn, she returned with an eye roll.
With a heavy groan, I stomped after her, dreading each step. She pulled me into the short dresses which earned a head shake. After showing many dresses, she finally took out a maroon one that had a one shoulder and lace that hung from the sides. And it wasn't too short!
So, she made me try it on, and, not to sound conceited, but I did look quite good. I modeled it for her, making duck faces and chicken arms before changing back into my clothes. After paying for the dresses, we went to the food court, getting some P.F. Changs.
Moaning once the sticky chiken hit my tongue, I began chowing it down, barely breathing. After it was all gone, I frowned and burped loudly, drinking my drink innocently.
I looked up to Laura and smiled sheepishly.
Sorry, I signed.
She smiled and shook her head before finishing her egg roll. We both sighed and leaned back against our chair, me closing my eyes. After about forty-five seconds, I felt a tap on my shoulder, causing me to jump and hit my leg on the table, causing my eyes to snap open, just in time to see my Coca-Cola fly all over someone.
Looking up with wide eyes, they met bright blue ones. Great. Just fricking great! Why does it always happen to me? Why, God...WHY?!
In case you haven't noticed, my drinked spilled all over Nathaniel. Just. My. Luck. Kill. Me. Now.
