|Chapter 2|

I called Paul three times the next day before eight. He was livid that I'd called so may times. At least that's what he told me as he grumbled into my room and shut my window.

"You're really cranky," I told him and tilted my head to the side. "You didn't sleep last night, did you?"

"Visited my parents," he pointed up at the ceiling and ran a hand through his already messed up hair. His eyes connected with mine and they softened. "What'd you need?"

"Um," I stammered and patted the spot on my bed. He lifted a brow and strolled over reluctantly. He sat and I took in a big breath. "Tell me about yourself."

"Excuse me?" he leaned away from me, about to stand up. I grabbed his hand, relishing in the feel of it, and squeezed. "What's gotten into you?"

"When you left dinner I realized I barely know anything about you," I answered truthfully. "It made me feel stupid. How come you never told me about Ross?"

"I didn't know he'd turn out to be your damned advisor," he held up his hands angrily.

"I didn't call you to argue," I scolded, crossing my arms. He sighed and looked up at me sheepishly.

"Sorry," he muttered. "I never told you because I never thought it'd prove to be important."

"You know both of my families," I whined. He chuckled once and them made eye contact with me again. He was wearing a dark blue polo and dark jeans. He raked a hand through his hair yet again and offered an easy smile my way.

"My parents names are Meredith and Jacob," he started. "They're best friends with Ross' parents, Eliza and Herod. They're all archangels and that's what I was going to be. Ross is about five years older than I am and he was always showing me the ropes. Sure learning how to be an archangel was cool, but I didn't really feel any connection to it.

"In school, before coming to earth, we were learning about guardian angels and things just sort of clicked. My parents were supportive, but I knew they'd rather me follow in their footsteps. Eliza and Herod would always say it was such a shame. Ross moved up the political ladder very quickly while I was guarding you on earth. I guess you could say my parents were proud, but they were even more proud of their best friend's son."

"Oh, Paul," I murmured. It must have been a horrible feeling to let your parents down. I connected with his feelings because i was afraid of letting Anabel and Daniel down when I first met them. Especially after all I've been through. My human parents were completely over me last semester, but now they're learning to trust me again.

"No it's fine," he waved it off and looked away towards the window. "They love me, I know they do. Around the time I started high school Ross got this super big job. He became sort of the governor over the third largest sector of heaven. And he's good at what he does. He's very helpful and very informative to the people of his sector."

"So he's important?"  I swallowed nervously.

"Very," he assured with a slight nod. I guess I knew what Holly meant yesterday at dinner then. What was someone as important as Ross doing teaching me how to be an archangel? "He started getting cocky, but he could afford to be because he was great. Ross is amazing."

"You're amazing too," I whispered. He snorted and stood up. I sulked quietly.

"It's almost a blessing and a curse," he paced. "You chose archangel to get information hopefully on what really transpired during the switch when you were born. Ross was born about six years before the switch."

"And you?" I questioned.

"One and a half," he answered with a stupid grin. "I'm not some old man, Nova."
