Chapter 7: Z Blackthorne

10th April 2013 ( 2 years ahead of the present)

Z's POV:

Swooshed back to reality. Head's aching again. 

"Nat is going to kill me for ditching her in that awkward situation." I rolled my eyes and pounced onto my bed. "Whatever."

It wasn't my fault I decided to go back to the future at that critical moment. Just as well. The kid would've asked too much questions. 

My gaze fell upon a picture frame, on my desk beside my bed. There was a girl grinning happily in front of two navy-haired personnel. Oh Nat.. Guilt started to rush through my heart. Guilt that I had been trying to rationalise for so long. 

"Hey yo! Want some tea?" Kevin bobbed his head into my room with a boyish grin on his face.

" Damn. Stop cutting into my brooding time." I sighed and got up. 

"What?" Kevin came into my small but cosy room. " Oh. You went back again?"

I gave a small nod and looked away.

"And?" Kevin tilted my head to face his. " What happened?"

"Nothing important." I sighed. " I just got a hell of a time trying to ask that stubborn girl to get your name." 

Kevin raised an eyebrow. 

"Today, two years ago, you came to Nat's school for a job interview. Remember?" 

Kevin thought hard. "Hm.. I guess so.."

"You know what? " Kevin started again. " You have a lot of power in your hands. To alter the future, to alter Nat's life." 

I clenched my fists. " I would rather do without all this ."

"Hey don't say that. " Kevin placed a hand on my shoulder. " You're her only hope. The only hope that can alter the past."

I took a deep breath trying desperately to calm myself.

Kevin was right.

I was liable for whatever happened to her parents and ruined her life. The least I could is try my best to change all of that. I so was shameless. All my crimes.. All my sins.. And still... I was still so stuck up... still so selfish. 

I gave Kevin an affirmed nod.

" You're right. I WILL do my best to make everything right again."
