This is my entry for Yoko_Lates's Hiboko writing competition! Also good luck to everybody else who's entering!

Hibiki's POV
Man...it was raining again...

I stared out of my classroom window and sighed.
I hated the rain so much...so cold and unforgiving...
But the situation inside the classroom wasn't much better...

Couples...Everywhere....

I sulked, as I watched Natsu and Lucy laughing together in the corner of the classroom.
"Natsu! Not here! Everybody will notice..." the blond whispered, blushing.
"No, they won't...I promise..." Natsu replied.

Ugh...

I'd always wanted to have that kind of relationship with a girl, but I'd never found one that I really liked...and even if I did, I would be way too shy to speak to her...
"Yo! Hibiki! What're you sulking about?" one of my best friends, Shinji Kuro asked, walking over to me.
"Relationships..." I replied, simply.
"What? Why?"
"Why? Because Valentine's Day is in a couple of days, that's why!"
"Oh yeah, I forgot that you always tend to get a little depressed around this time of year..."
"Lucky guys like yourself get to enjoy Valentine's with your cute girlfriend, whilst I just watch from afar..."
Shinji ran a hand through his dark hair and grinned.
"Sure, I'm lucky that Yukino said yes, but I don't see any need to rush in finding yourself a girlfriend, Hibiki..." he said.
"Easy for you to say...Forget this, I'm going home..."
"Really? You aren't coming to the arcade with me and the guys?"
"No...I just wanna go home and sleep..."
"Oh, okay then. Catch you later!"
"Bye!"
I picked up my bag and walked out of the classroom.

'I guess a person like Shinji just wouldn't understand the struggles of a girlfriend-less guy, like me...' I thought, as I put on my red Converse by the shoe lockers.
Digging in my bag, I realised that I forgot my umbrella!
'Damn! I borrowed it to Eve! Argh...I totally forgot!' I thought, mentally kicking myself for being so careless.
"Uhm...Hibiki, was it?" Came an unfammiliar voice.
I turned around at the mention of my name to see somebody whom I didn't recognise.

Her hair was a mix of brown and blond, her eyes were a glowing ocean blue...

Who was this girl?

"Y-Yeah..." I replied, kind of amazed that this girl was talking to me.
"I-If you want..." she began shyly, twiddling her thumbs. "We can share my umbrella..."
"Are you sure that's okay with somebody like me?"
"Yeah...my friend Eve said to come by and help you out..."
'Eve, I owe you...' I thought, whilst smiling.
"Really, thanks! Come to think of it, I never asked your name..."
"Yoko. Yoko Tatsu" the girl replied, smiling.
"Hi! I'm Hibiki Lates"

I have to admit that sharing an umbrella with a girl is a little embarassing...
There was an unnatural silence between us, as we both listened to the pitter-patter of the rain hitting the umbrella.
"So, uhm..." I said, trying to start a conversation. "Why did you decide to help me out today?" I asked.
"Well, because...I've seen you around campus and you've always looked a little depressed"
"Oh right...so you're doing all this out of sympathy?"
"No! Its not out of sympathy, but more out of affection..."
"A-Affection?!? You mean..."
"Yeah...I like you..."
"As in like, like?"
Yoko nodded in affirmative, whilst her cheeks blushed fiercely.

That came from nowhere!

I was completely stunned by Yoko's sudden announcement, but I think anybody would be if you put them in my present situation.
I opened my mouth to answer Yoko and unlike most replies to a love confession, it was precise and accurate.

I knew exactly what I was going to say!
