~Life is a climb. The higher you go, the more breath taking will be the view.

We ended up on Connor's roof with a pack of beer and two blankets. It was getting dark but neither of us was making a gesture to move from there. We had been surprisingly silent for the past half an hour. No bickering, no teasing. It was kind of weird but I felt like I needed to keep my mouth shut and let him have his peaceful moment. Obviously, I couldn't bear to be the silent-understanding-buddy for too long so I broke the silence.
"So what's your story?" He seemed to come out of his trance and frowned at me.
"What?"
"Oh come on! You just cried your heart out on my chest so you obviously have a dramatic past or a troubled teenage life or anything. Spill it," I demanded and took a swing of my beer. Yeah I know: drinking makes me a better bitch.
"Blunt is your middle name or what?" He chuckled humorlessly.
"It's Victoria actually but don't change the topic," I pressed on.
"What is it to you anyway? Only this morning we were at each other's throat and now you..." He trailed off confusedly.
"I dunno. I'm just curious I guess. You know.. everyone at school literally worships the floor I walk on. Trust me when I say that I'm more popular than the principal. Everyone, and I mean every-fucking-one, loves me or wants to be me and I must admit that at times, it gets pretty boring." I looked at my fidgeting fingers. "You are the first one who's mysterious enough to have caught my attention. You actually had the nerves to show me some sass. So I just want to know a bit more about you, Mr male-version-of-myself?" I smirked at him. Woah, the alcohol was really taking a toll on me.
"You think that I am mysterious?"
"Well, you just showed up in the middle of the school year and basically stood up against the queen bee, me of course. So forgive me for wanting to know your deal."
"And here I thought that we're starting an epic friendship!" he smirked like a drunkard.
"That could be arranged." He gave me a half smile and was silent for a few moments, just staring at nothing before speaking up again.
"Sorry."
"It's okay. I get it if you don't wanna tell me about-"
"No. I'm sorry about this morning," he clarified, glancing at me briefly. I stayed quiet, implying for him to go on. "I was in a foul mood and.. Do you know why I came back here, Becca?" I shook my head instantly. "I guess your sources weren't that efficient, huh?" he tried to joke.
"Hold up. Came back? So you were staying here before?"
"I.. You've ever heard about Province Enterprises?"
"Yeah. They are my parents' biggest rival in business. Why?"
"I-it's my mom's family business and-" His explanation was cut off short by a loud scream from the house. We both jumped, stared at each other and snapped at the same time.
"Evelyn!"
"D!"
We ran downstairs, fearing the worse, to find Evelyn standing on the kitchen counter.
