I'm sitting in my office eating my lunch when my secretary, Janice, comes running in.
"Miss Johnson? There's some urgent business you must attend to right away,"
"What is it?" I ask as I set down my chicken salad.
"Well, uhm, we just got a call from Victoriana... And they said a man... Fell from the sky..." Janice explains.
"A man, fell from the sky? Is he dead?"
"No, no. Very much alive,"
"Well, that's impossible. Are you sure this isn't some sort of hoax or prank?" I ask.
"It can't be. He dropped right into Center Square, hundreds of people saw, not to mention Detective Graves,"
"Detective Graves? This is insane, how can someone fall out of the sky and survive? Janice get a car ready. We're going to Victoriana,"
"Okay Miss Johnson," Janice says as she runs out the door.
Is this even possible? There has to be some explanation for this. Maybe a plane... But those haven't worked in hundreds of years.
I start putting away some papers I had out and grab the suitcase I keep in the closet just incase I need to go anywhere out of the blue. I then grab my bag and my suitcase and leave my office. I walk to the car Janice has waiting for me outside.
A man takes my bag and puts it in the trunk as I enter the car. In the car waiting for me is the driver and two guards.
"Miss Johnson, are you ready to leave for Victoriana?" the driver asks.
"Yes," I tell him. The car pulls out of the Capital Building parking lot and starts the drive to Victoriana. We arrive in Victoriana in around 45 minutes. We stop at the hotel that I will be staying at and the bellhops take my suitcase as I switch into another car.
"Miss Johnson, my name is David Greene. Where would you like to go today?" the new driver asks me.
"To Center Square on the double," I tell him. We speed through the city with our motorcade guiding us. In minutes, we arrive at Center Square.
"Miss Johnson!" a familiar voice calls out to me as I exit the car. "What a pleasure to meet you here!"
"Detective Grave! How good is it to see you?" I tell the Detective. Detective Grave and I grew up together in a small town outside of Sarahville. We've been friends ever since we were little.
"So detective, where is this man that fell from the sky?" I ask him.
"We have him in questioning at the station. We can go see him if you'd like,"
"That'd be great. But before we go in there, can you tell me more about him? What's he saying happened?" I ask as we walk towards the station on the other side of the square.
"He doesn't remember a thing. He just remembers waking up on the ground, surrounded by hundreds of people,"
"That's not much help then, is it,"
We walk up the front steps into the station. We enter in through the door and Graves leads me to the interrogation room.
"Here's the interrogation room," Graves tells me. "I'm going to go back into the field to search for some more clues. We should get some dinner later."
"Of course. See you later," I tell him as he walks down the hall.
"Okay," I say to myself. I start to reach for the door handle when the guard on duty stops me.
"What do you think you're doing? This is official police business. This man could be dangerous. This is no place for a woman," he tells me.
"Gender equality!" I scream at him as I push him aside and open the door. The room is dark and gray, and there's a table in the middle with two police men sitting at it with a man across from them.
"Hello," I say to the police men, "I've got this." The two men get up and leave the room. I sit down across from the man.
"Hello, my name is Lindsey Johnson. As I can understand, you're the man that fell from the sky?" I ask him. "That's what everyone is telling me," he says to me in a strange accent. One I've only heard a few times. It was American, like mine.
"So, do you remember anything? Any names, people, places, dates, things?"
"The only thing I can remember is the number 32318. I don't know what it means and why I remember it,"
"Well then. Maybe I can get some friends of mine to search up the number. See if there is anything tied to it," I tell him, "In the meantime, what are they doing with you? Where are you staying?"
"Well, right now they're keeping me in a cell,"
"Well I wont have that for our kingdom's most esteemed guest! I'll bring you back to Sarahville with me and set you up with an apartment. How does that sound?"
"That's great! Thank you so much!"
"But wait, there's one more thing. What should I call you?" I ask him.
"Call me... Noel,"
"Well then, Noel, pack your things. We leave in the morning,"
