When we were finished at the pound and had adopted the dogs, Arthur's small one named, adorably, Princess (I had to hold back laughter), and mine was named Poofy... Don't judge me! His official name was Foster, but Poofy would be his nickname.
We took the dogs out to my truck, where Arthur held Princess in his lap while I urged Poofy into the back of the truck cab. I hopped into the front seat and turned to Arthur.
"So, where to?"
"Petco," He held Princess up and the small dog sniffed at his nose before panting heavily, her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth, "We need to get supplies."
So, two hours later, two hundred dollars, a knocked down pile of dog food, scared cat, a barking fit, bratty birds, a flirty bastard, and an all around rambunctious shopping trip, we were back at my home and putting together a rather large dog house, and setting up a back yard kennel (Not easy in the cold and snow).
"How the hell do you do this?" Arthur huffed as he dropped a piece of wood, "It doesn't make any sense!"
I paused my digging, for the bottom of the kennel to be placed in the ground, and looked up at him, "Read the instructions, babe."
"I have and they're wrong!" He threw the paper, but it just flew back in his face, causing him to flail his arms until it fell off, and him to pout. I chuckled and speared the shovel into the snow to let it sit, and walked over to kneel in front of him.
"Is my baby okay?" I asked, albeit a bit mockingly, and he turned his glare towards me.
"I'm not a baby," He told me, and I bit back a laugh at his pout.
"Of course not, but," I smiled and pushed him back in the snow and hovered over him with a smile, "You are my babe."
He rolled his eyes, "That was awful."
"Who cares?" I shrugged.
"Obviously not you," He sighed.
"You know it," I winked. He groaned.
"Are you going to keep talking, or kiss me? Because if it's not the latter, than I am pushing you off."
"So impatient."
I leaned down and kissed his nose, causing him to pout. I chuckled and leaned in again, capturing him in a sweet kiss. He raises his hand to my neck, angling my head so the kiss was deeper, and I held his hips, my calloused fingers grazing against the small strip of his side as his shirt had rode up a little when he fell backwards.
He pulled away first, short of breath, and I smiled as he slowly opened his eyes.
"Better?" I questioned. He didn't reply and instead looked to our side.
He chuckled, "We have an audience." I followed his gaze and saw Princess sitting staring at us curiously, her head cocked, and Poofy was laying on the ground with his head on his paws, watching our every move.
"Awkward," I said in a slightly higher tone. Arthur rolled his eyes.
"And I'm the baby." I pecked his lips.
"Yup!"
~
My eyes snapped open, revealing the darkness of my room instead of a bright, deceiving, sunny sky. I was panting, and my body was covered in sweat as I wiped at the tears on my cheeks.
Something cold prodded against the side of my face, and a small set of whimpers and a skittering sound came from my floor. I sat up, and the whimpering grew louder. Then, a loud whining came before the bed sunk beside me and I was being licked.
"Ack! No, no! Get down!" I pushed Poofy off of me and reached over to turn on the bedside lamp. Poofy was staring at me expectantly, and Princess was pawing at my bed, wanting to come up.
I leaned down and picked her up, setting her in my lap. She put her front paws up and began sniffing at me before licking my ace where she could reach.
"Ew, no," I pushed her muzzle away. She whined but rubbed her head on my stomach and licking my arms. I sighed as Poofy joined in and began licking me again.
"Gross, gah- No!" Poofy jumped up onto the bed and pushed Alfred back, licking his face repeatedly before dropping across his stomach and laying his head down. Princess barked once before headbutting Poofy in the side and then dropping beside him, snuggled up to Alfred's side.
"Really? Are you- Is this how this is gonna be?" Poofy's tail beat happily against the bed. "Alright, alright, let me get comfortable."
I tried my best to maneuver with them in the bed, and I managed to get my whole body back on the bed, but they remained curled up to me, stopping me from covering myself with blankets.
I sighed and Princess laid her head on my neck, her ears flopping against my face. I chuckled and scratched her head, causing her tail to wag as she fell asleep.
"Thanks, Poofy," I whispered as I began fell asleep. I felt him huff.
~
"No, no! Don't you- outside, outside!" It was way too early for this! "If you drop on that floor- Princess!" I rushed over and picked the small dog up as she squatted over my moms carpet. I ran to the back door and got her in the backyard just in time before she pissed on my mom's carpet.
"Poofy! Get out here!" I yelled back into the house, and I had a seconds warning before he came barreling through the door, almost running me down.
"I swear, if you had ruined my mom's carpet..." I would have gotten my ass beat. I rounded up the dogs, locking them inside the outside kennel for the day, where there was a food dish with a self-filling tub of dog food atop it, and a matching water dish. Their dog house was set up in there, too, so they had shelter from the sun and any cold weather. It was still only November.
I groaned as I went back inside, getting ready for school later that day, even though it was only five thirty in the morning. Who knew that having dogs meant waking up at ungodly hours?
