Chapter 6: Just Take It a Day at a Time

~~|Ryan's POV|~~

I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of my mom crying. I jolted out of my bed and went to my mom's room.

"Mom, are you ok?" I asked, hugging her

"Y-your father d-died." She cried

Those words crushed me. Tears poured from my eyes. My mom and I just sat, hugging and crying, for about an hour before I went back to my room. I curled up in a ball underneath my comforter and sobbed into my pillow until I fell asleep.

I woke up early. Earlier than I wanted to. My cheeks were stained with dried tears and my eyes were red and puffy. I walked out of my room and went downstairs to the kitchen. My mom wasn't awake yet so I quietly made myself a bowl of cereal. I ate my cereal then washed my bowl and spoon so my mom didn't have to do it. I walked into the living room and plopped down onto the couch and turned on the tv. There was some stupid ghost show on but I just left it on. I ended up falling asleep, anyway.

"Ryan!" My mom called, and I jolted awake

"Yeah?" I groggily yelled back

"Someone is here to see you." She said

"Ok." I replied, rubbing my eyes

I saw y/n walk into my living room. She sat down next to me on the couch.

"Hi, Ry." She said

I said nothing and I just hugged her. I felt tears start to roll down my face.

I greeted Ryan and he didn't say anything he just hugged me. I heard him sniffle so I rubbed his back to try to comfort him.

"Baby, what's wrong?" I asked, pulling away from the hug and he was crying

"My d-dad died." He cried and I gently wiped his tears

"I'm sorry Ryan." I said, hugging him

He nestled his head in the crook of my neck and I kissed him on the cheek

"How come your here so early?" He asked, pulling away from the hug and tears were still in his eyes

"I-I had an anxiety a-attack." I explained

"Fuck! I'm sorry for not coming into school. I should've been there to help you." Ryan said

"It's ok, we're together now." I smiled

Ryan cupped my face with his hands and pressed his lips against mine

"I love you so much." He whispered

"I love you too." I whispered back

I spent the rest of the day at Ryan's house. Brendon came after school to "pick me up" and walk me home. Brendon got to Ryan's house so I had to leave. I crashed my lips into Ryan's.

"I love you so much, Ryan." I said

"I love you too, y/n." Ryan smiled

"Ok, guys, break it up." Brendon rolled his eyes, standing in the doorway

"Bye, Ry." I smiled

He smiled and waved

I started walking home with Brendon

"How was school?" I asked Brendon

"It was good. Mr Way's papers caught on fire when we were doing a lab with chemicals." He laughed
