I was walking to the building I had put an job application for, I was thinking about my family back home, and who may still write me a letter or something to stay in touch. I run right into someone "I'm so sorry, I was day dreaming-" I get interrupted by the the dark haired man standing in front of me "it's okay, do you want me to pay for the dry cleaning, that looks expensive" he asked "no, it's fine and I made the dress so not that expensive" I laugh, he joins in a little "please let me at least bring you out for lunch" he requests "okay...here let me give you my number and call me when you get a chance" I say writing my number on a napkin, I hand it to him "as long as you don't kill me, we should get along just fine" I say handing him the napkin "have a nice day" he said looking at the napkin, I walk into the building.

I get up to the front desk "excuse me, may I help you" the woman at the front desk asked me "yes, I'm looking for a...a...Mr.Frederick (not a real person, that I know of) can you point me in the direction" I ask, she looks at me weirdly "umm...sure he is on level 4 go up to the front desk and ask there" she says laughing, I knew she was lying so I go to level 2, she held 2 fingers before the four so I went up to 2. I walked up to the front desk "hello I'm looking for a Mr.Frederick" I say, she looks at me " do you have an appointment" I nod "yes, ma'am" I say, she goes to her computer "what's your name" she asked "Karlesha Fortuna" I say, she smiles "there you are take seat over there and I will let him know your here" she gets up and goes to an office. I sit down in one of the weird shape chairs "Ms. Fortuna, Mr. Frederick is ready to see you" I nod and follow her to a office. We get into the office, there's a a guy in his mid to late fifties "Ms. Fortuna, nice to meet you" her tries to shake my hand but I'm a germophobic I declined "nice to meet you too, but after years of being a photographer human contact isn't something I'm used to" I mention sitting down "why did you want to be a photojournalist for us" he asked "well, I've always wanted to be a photographer since I was a kid, when I was 16 I got a job taking family portraits and baby pictures. I love pictures, it can say a million words" I say, taking off my sunglasses. We sit in silence, for a second "we just want pictures for different stories for the news" I nod "pictures are my specialty" I reply, I smile "well nice to meet you, Ms. Fortuna" he says standing up "you as well" I say standing as well "you will get a call around 7:30 Friday night, telling whether you got the job or not" I nod, seeing my way out. I put my sunglasses back on "Ms. Fortuna" Mr. Frederick yelled behind me "yes, sir" I say turning around "your jacket" he hands me my sweater "it's a sweater, not a jacket" I correct, I get into the elevator, and head to my temporary job.

I waited tables the rest of the afternoon, it was going on 2 and I was waiting on a table, I started to head to get 3 people refills. The next thing I know is there's ice in my shirt "sorry, sorry, are you okay" the same man who ran into me earlier asked "it's fine I can't go a day without having something like this happening" I mention picking up the cups off the floor "what are you doing Friday night" the guy asked "nothing, why" I reply, he seemed to be the only friendly person in New York right now, I will probably get friends but right now he was the only person "would you like to go out for dinner" he asked scratching the back of his neck "sure, where and when" I ask walking towards the sink, trying to hide my smile "how about the pizza place down the road a little and let's say 7" I turn around, from what I'm doing "I would like that" I say showing my smile, he leaves the restaurant, smiling. I wait on tables for the next hour, I take a cab to a store a block away from my apartment, I walk into the store and I get a few bottles of water, peanut M&M's, and a pack of double mint gum. I pay for the items, I walk over to my apartment and put the bottles of water in the fridge. I sit and eat the peanut M&M's, read my book, and lay in my bed.
