Nickolas silent relaxation was broken when Scot came bursting in. “Nicky! It is Tony he was fallen ill. Dr Cartor is on her way to inspect him” Without waiting for his brother to make a period in his sentence Nickolas jumped up and ran past Scot.

After running up a couple of stairs Nickolas and Scot were standing at the door, the doctors were running around like crazy people however the only one you could hear was Dr Cartor screaming orders. When Cartor noticed them she stopped barking orders stormed towards them. “Nickolas, I’m doing my very best. We have found out what is causing this however now we need to find out how to stop it” her face was filled with worry and her hand shaking. “Thanks Cartor. I know you are doing you very best, however you will have to focus on breathing for me if you are going to solve this” Nickolas held onto her shoulders forcing her to stand still. “What is doing this?” Scot stepped in and asked. The ringing of his voice in her ears left Cartor semi breathless as well as speechless, the butterfly effect running a circus in her stomach made her loss even more focus until Nickolas cleared his throat.  “The blood spider, or so we call it now. It isn’t it’s official name or anything. The blood spider basically feeds off the red blood cells, after they have hatched in the heart. After hatching they go along the main arterial systems until they end in the brain. Basically they are screwing up the veins as they flow toward the brain causing the victim to bleed out” the two men stood there staring at the faint doctor. “They need me in there” Cartor said softly and stormed back into the room.

The smell of blood drifted in the air as death jumps from shadow too shadow, as Cartor fight to save the heart she once knew. Saving Tony from death, his brothers from sorrow and her from failure.  The night past and morning came and still not on second of rest laid on Cartor’s eyes. The smell of old rustic blood drifted through the house as the doctors struggle to keep the sheeting clean.

“How the bloody hell do I kill you buggers!” Cartor muttered under her breath glaring at the frozen body of a fallen blood spider. It was so small, just big enough to see with the naked eye if held on the tip of your finger. It was shaped as a spider with eight hairy legs that looked like razor blades. It is most likely that their legs in flicked the damage to the veins. Cartor laid the glass razor on which the frozen corps was placed next to her cup of tea and lifted the peatry dish with a life blood spider. This one still swam in the blood it has stolen from Tony’s mouth. Unlike the dead spider this one moved with swift movements from the one end of the dish to the next with minimal movement of its legs.

“What are you?” Cartor asked the blood yet as she placed it back down. Turning around she now faced a book shelve stacked with medical journals both her and Dr. Watson’s. There were more than a thousand books in this room alone and not even one can help her solve this problem.

Angel, Cartor’s baby sister, came flowing in looking like an angel dressed in a dark red and black dress hugging her soft ivory skin. Her long brown hair hides the tears hovering in her emerald green eyes. Her quivering pink lips parted as her tin throat tried to speak. It wasn’t until Cartor turned around surprised by the site of her sister standing in the door. Cartor jumped up knocking her tea all over her desk. “Gremmer” Angel giggled as she helped to rescue the scattered books. Gremmer was the word Cartor and her mother used to call Angel when she was making a mess in her room when she was getting dressed. A soft giggle escaped Angel’s frightened throat making her eyes sparkle. Cartor’s eyes were forced away from her baby sister’s angelic eyes when she observed that the swimming pattern changed rapidly until it stopped moving. “Johnny! Johnny, what the hell did you do?” Johnny a dark haired boy ran in. Johnny is only fourteen and his parents wish him to be a doctor even if he wishes otherwise.  Cartor accepted him as her assistant allowing him to go to school while exploring his other career options. “Sorry Dr. Cartor, it is a new tea I brewed to experiment with new tea types. Is it really that bad?” The boy shrieked as he observed her shocked face. “What is in the tea Johnny? Tell me!” Cartor demanded. “Dried wild rose leafs and some mint leaves. I didn’t think it will be that bad. Cartor ran out the door dragging Johnny after her.

“ABIGAIL” Angel screamed as Cartor ran out. “It is Mommy, she died yesterday. I don’t know what is going on but I’m sick as well. I started to cough up blood this morning so I ran to you” Angel’s words made Cartor stop in her tracks and run into her sisters arms.
