Twisted Reality

Just like that it was over, he was gone. Gone without a hint of a proper goodbye, or a proper hello for that matter. He didn't even know who she was, it was strange. It was beyond strange, it was mortifying. She felt like it was one of those old pranks he used to pull on her when she was younger, but this was a little bigger than "pull my finger." She was just waiting for him to jump out and tease her for being gullible. Except after he said what a funny coincidence it was that she had the same last name, and informed her about the concert, he said how he had to go. Then he mentioned that they might run into each other soon. As he walked away she still couldn't get over the fact that he looked almost 20 years younger than his actual age, it didn't make sense. Nobody could age in reverse, Benjamin Button was a fairy tale.

She knew something was wrong. There was something out there twisting reality, and it made her sick to her stomach. She wanted this strange dream to be over, but something inside her told her this wasn't a dream, it was a terrible reality. She was supposedly by her home, and the park she knew all her life but she didn't recognize hardly an inch of it. She was by the people she loved, and they didn't recognize her. These were the streets she traveled, and lived on her whole life. It seemed just a day ago she knew everything there was to know in life; now she was confused upon the subjects of up, and down.

Now here she was at the theatre, and not even it looked familiar. She'd been to this theatre more times than she could count with her family. She knew every square inch, every tile, and every thread of carpet like the back of her hand, and now it looked refurbished. She wondered if the theatre had redecorated maybe, trying to bring in a new buzz. It was more than redecorated, though. There was new equipment, new lighting fixtures, new carpet, and new walls. Everything inside that theatre that she used to think was rustic, was new redesigned material. Everything, and everyone she knew so far looked younger it's like the whole world was playing one giant trick on her, just waiting for her to crack so they could have a laugh. Well this was it she was done, she was ready to crack.

R5 fans flooded into the theatre anticipating the show. It was still about an hour until it started but most people usually arrived earlier. She was all too familiar with the works of an R5 show, since she had been to almost every single one. This one felt different. The fans seemed different, the atmosphere seemed different. None the less she needed to know what was going on, and they were her last hope, he was her last hope. Thankfully the theatre still had a few tickets left, for they seldom ever did. The man looked at her funny when she handed him the fifty dollar bill.

"This the new bill?" He asked. Riley nervously shook her head, and smiled.

"Yes sir, it's brand new just got it from the bank." She lied. She was glad he was gullible. After she purchased her ticket, she went inside the theatre, and waited. As the fans made their way to their seats so did she. She sat pretty far back in the seating since she just got her ticket a few minutes before. The seats had bright blue upholstery, and didn't creak like they were supposed to. I also noticed through all the fans they had taken down the large screens that projected the band to the audience.

Soon it was 7:00, and after Ryland's set, the band was about to start. The funny thing is they started with All Night. They hadn't played that song in years, they hadn't played any old songs in years. It seemed like nothing made sense anymore.

She wasn't shocked anymore when something abnormal happened. It seemed like nothing had been normal since she was thrusted into this alternate reality. She hadn't embraced anything yet, she barely accepted what was surrounding her. It was more that she was expecting the abnormalities.

There was to be a signing after the show, this was her chance. She would just walk up to him like an average girl and let it all out. What would she even say to him? She didn't have a plan. There was one thing she did know though, she was lost extremely lost, and she needed to find her way. He was her last hope.
