AVA'S POV (16yo)
I can't wait for my mom to get her life together. I am so ready to leave my aunt's apartment. We moved in the night my parents had that terrible fight. I haven't seen my father in years and he barely calls. We don't have much of a relationship nor do my mom and I. Dana acts like she hates me. She projects all of her hurt and hatred of my father onto me. It hurts but sadly its become a way of life.
Today is my first day at Clinton High. It has been deemed the worst high school in the Bronx so my anxiety is through the roof. I jumped off of the top bunk of my bed and turned my alarm off 6:00am. I race into the bathroom so my that no one beats me to it. I ran the water for my shower and stepped in. As I let the hot water run down my face I thought about what to wear to school."I'm wearing whatever. Who cares..."
I threw on a black v-neck with a pair of faded boot cut jeans and my all black airmax 95's. I decided to threw my curly hair in a messy bun with my baby hairs laid to perfection. I take one last look at my reflection
"ok, I'm semi cute or whatever."
I spritz my self with my favorite body spray heiress by Paris Hilton. As I grab my jacket I'm startled by the sound of my mother's voice.
"Ava you better get your ass out of here you better not be late!"
Here she goes.
I thought to myself as I quickly walk down the hallway into the livingroom.
Slap!
My mother laid a good one across the right side of my face.
"Who the hell you think you are ignoring me? Act grown if you want to. I will fuck you up Ava!"
"I don't have time for you!"
I yelled as I stormed out of the apartment. I really can't stand this woman. She is always such a bitch, especially when she's on that stuff. My mother has been on drugs for the passed three years. Although I'm not certain what exact drug it is I am sure it is hard stuff.
I see my bus approaching underneath the train station so I dash down the hill to catch it.
"This bus is going to be packed, ugh!"
Frustrated at the crowd of people who swarmed at the approaching bus I decided to wait an extra fifteen minutes for the next bus. I know I'll be late but it is what it is. I grab my cell phone and start scrolling through my instant messanger app (aim).

We got the same 3rd period class boo- NishaI'll see them in a few...where is this bus---
My thoughts were interrupted by this beautiful, beautiful guy staring at me. He looks too familiar.
"Oh my god!"
Not realizing that I had thought out loud he smiled at me flashing his perfect teeth. As he walked towards me I quickly glanced at my reflection.
"I knew I should've straightened my hair! I look a mess."
"Hey cutie! Remember me?"
"Moe? oh my god. it's been years."
As he welcomed me in his warm embrace my body weakened. If he weren't holding me I would've fallen for sure. I've had a crush on Maurice since we were like seven years old. I remember after his thirteenth birthday his mom relocated to jersey and I haven't seen him since. He was always so caring and so sweet. And so damn cute!
