Chapter Ten- Where Sisters Fight Then A Goodbye
"Why do you smell like that?" Laila wrinkled her nose.
"Smell like what?" My face blank as I replied.
She breathed deeply, "Like alcohol and," She inhaled again "Smoke, a strong man smell, and sweat."
I wanted to laugh but held it in, "I was out."
"Out?" She frowned, "With who?"
I shrugged, "A friend."
"Catalina we have to talk about this." She warned, knowing I would dodge her now.
"What is there to talk about? I'm a grown woman, I make my own choices." I replied.
"Your in my care." She argued.
"I don't need you taking care of me anymore." I whispered softly.
"You were in a mental institution, I signed you out of there. You were on medication that made you out of it. You just tried to kill yourself, I found you. I had to call nine-one-one and get walked through what to do to save my sister." Her face hardened at the memory.
I eyed her with narrowed slits, "Yes I was but now I'm fine."
"What about my daughter? Is she safe from your melt downs?" Laila's voice rose to a hushed yell.
I frowned, she knew that would hurt me. That's why she said it, to hurt me.
"I'm going to a hotel tonight. Don't wait up." I responded, walking towards the front door.
"Catalina?" Laila cried out in a mumble, knowing what she had done.
"I love you too." I told her, looking back then walking out the door.
