Chapter Fifteen- Protection

I had called the only person I could think of. The one who has always been there for me. Laila is the one person I am okay with seeing me in this state. The tears and sobs just kept coming. I couldn't control them, and I sure as hell knew I wouldn't after what I just saw.

"You need to drink this." Laila handed me a glass of water.

I shook my head declining, "No."

She sighed, a sad gleam in her eyes. "You have to stay hydrated."

I let out my own sigh before taking a drink of the water. We sat in the one place that wasn't suffocating me.

"Catalina?" A woman spoke.

I looked up with sore red eyes. Standing before me was the woman I greatly remember. Alesha, the one who had ripped me out of a room when I first meet my husband. Her looks hasn't changed much. She still held the professional orb around her.

"I need to ask you some questions." She spoke briefly. "Where were you earlier today?"

"At Diamonds Bar." I answered.

"And who was you with?" She asked, writing.

"With a friend." My voice shook.

Alesha's eyes drilled on to me, "Who is your friend?"

I gulped another drink of water. Thankful for Laila, the cool water eased my itching throat.

"Kathy, the manager there." I replied, my hands shaking.

I was rubbing my arms, trying desperately not to dig my nails into my skin.

"Anyone else?" Alesha jotted down more on her small note pad.

"Why does this matter?" I growled.

"Because whoever you were with can supply blanks you leave out." Alesha snapped back.

"Your partner." I hissed.

Alesha paused her movements, staring at me.

"What?" Laila asked confused.

"You were with Ryan?" Alesha asked surprised.

"Ryan?" Laila whispered to me.

"Yes." I snapped. "After he interrupted me with a man I was having drinks with."

Alesha's eyes circled with thoughts. "Who was the man you were having drinks with?"

"Is this relevant?" I hissed, "You need to be searching for the bastard that did this!"

Laila's eyes hardened on Alesha, "You're upsetting her. I think that is enough questions. I will be taking my sister home. She is in no mental state to be answering questions."

Laila and I went to stand.

"Not so fast Mrs. Hollins, Catalina will not be returning with you to your home." Alesha quickly spoke.

"Excuse me," Laila's eyes were vicious. "Why the hell not?"

Alesha straightened her back, "Because whoever did this could very well know where you live. We have a place to offer her protection."

Laila sneered, "My husband is in the military. I think he is more then qualified to protect her as well as our family."

Alesha narrowed her eyes, "You, your husband, and your child will have agents stationed around your home as protection as well. It is not about who is qualified, it is the safety of your family."

"My husband-" Laila began but was cut off.

"Your husband could get severely hurt while facing whoever done this." Alesha snapped. "Tell me, do you want our protection? Or would you like to endanger your family further?"

"Fine, but I want access to my sister." Laila hissed, "I don't want you to just stash her somewhere alone."

"You have my word." A male voice called out.

My eyes snapped to him. The man I had just seen a few hours ago. The reason I came back to this hotel room.

"Good." Laila nodded, uncertain.

"She will be staying with me." Ryan explained.

With those six words, my world exploded around me.
