Last bell went off, signalling it was time to go home. I get up from laying on Kieron's chest and head toward the hole, leaving him on the ground. I go through the hole and proceed to walk down the backfield. I hear footsteps fast on my tail. Seconds later he was caught up and walking next to me. "You need to stop running off like this," he huffs. I let out a giggle, I wasn't really one for waiting around. I continue walking into the corridor and to my locker. I collect my things and go to my car. He was already there waiting. A small smile spreads across my face. It warmed my heart knowing I actually had someone there to talk to. Truth is, I liked him. Not in a couple way, as a friend. His personality was enough to cheer me up. If it turned out he was just using me I'd walk away.
I walked over to my car and unlocked it, getting in the drivers side. On queue Kieron opened the passenger door getting in himself. "I don't want to go straight home today," he states. I let out a small smile, "come mine". He gave me a small smile in return with that we were off. I had never took anyone to my house before, but I guess it was better then silence. Neither Kieron nor me said anything for a few minutes. My hand hovered in front of the sound system before giving Kieron a small glance asking for his approval, he gave me a small nod and I turned the music on. It took 10 minutes before we pulled up outside of my house.
I stepped out of my car and waited for Kieron to do the same. When I hear his car door shut I lock the car and proceed to my house. I unlock my door expecting him to be right behind me. When I turn around I see him still standing by my car gwaking at my house. I clear my throat as loudly as I could. His head snapped in my direction and he headed inside. I headed straight for the kitchen and got myself a glass of tropical juice while Kieron went and made himself at home jumping straight on my sofa. I rolled my eyes, not like he could see. I drank the whole glass before returning to him.
I sat next to him on the sofa while he was taking in my house. After a few minutes in silence he turned to face me "I could get used to this," he stated putting his feet up on the foot rest. I let out a chuckle, "and who said you would be here enough to get used to it?" His lips curved almost into a smile "I just have a feeling," the stated. I let out a sigh "fine, maybe I like your company," I admitted. I saw his face light up "but don't be translating that wrong, you're a friend." I added making sure he didn't think I was another one of his targets. I was no longer looking at him, I was too busy thinking about what IF he was actually in it for something? I came back to civilisation when I felt his hand on my cheek turning it towards his. My breathing hitched when we were inches away from each other staring into one another's eyes. "I would never hurt you," his voice was low and sincere. "You don't mean that though, you go through girls like its nothing as soon as someone else catches your interest you'll be on your way." I must have triggered something because at that comment he was up and walking out the door. Maybe it was for the best, better to let go now before we get too close.
Kieron's POV
"You don't mean that though, you go through girls like its nothing as soon as someone else catches your interest you'll be on your way," her voice was strong and bold. How could she think that I was going to do such a thing to her?! I've done nothing but be nice to her, when she was upset I was there and she still thinks I'm going to break her heart. I could feel the anger boiling through my body. I wanted to stay and argue but I didn't think now was the right time. I got up from my seat and marched out the house. I wasn't sure where I was going but I'd rather leave then do something I'd regret in the future.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called one of my oldest friends Dylan. The phone rung a few times before he answered. "Sup Kieron, how are things?" He asked. I let out a sigh, "Not good man, where are you I'll come see you?" He told me where he was and I started walking. I knew it would take me a while to get there but at least I had time to think about everything.
How am I meant to convince Hannah that I'm not using her like all the other girls? I have never been in this situation before, I've never had a girl say no to me or even raise their voice before. Hannah was different from the others. I didn't just want to sleep with her, I wanted to know about her life. I wanted to know what made her happy.
I know I have a reputation as the bad boy who breaks everyone's heart but what do you expect when the girls throw theirselves at me. You expect to get treated like girlfriend material when you basically beg me to sleep with you. No. With Hannah, she doesn't swoon over me the way the other girls do. She makes me feel like a normal guy chasing after a normal girl.
Nothing about her is normal, she's broken. You need to fix her.
I thought to myself. How could I fix someone when I'm not whole myself?
After a long 20 minutes, I was finally at my destination. I let out a sigh of relief and knocked on the door. After a few seconds a familiar face came to the door. I walked straight into the house and welcomed myself to sit on the sofa. I heard a small chuckle at the door followed by a slam. Moments later Dylan was sitting next to me. "So do you want a beer before or after your rant?" Dylan asked his tone laced with sarcasm. "Before," I answer almost immediately. With that he was off his seat and heading to the kitchen while I was left in my own thoughts.
No longer then 30 seconds later he was back with 2 bottles of Budweiser in his hand. As soon as he handed me mine I chugged half the bottle and banged it on the side. Dylan takes a swig of his own beer before turning to me, "talk," he said. I let out a small grunt. "There's a girl," I stated. He stays silent waiting for me to say more. "She's different, I mean she intrigues me but she thinks I'm a player and I don't know how to convince her that it isn't like that. Not with her," I inform him. A smirk forms across his face. "I've been waiting for the day a girl finally gets your attention. Tell me about her bro?" His voice sounded intrigued. "I don't know what it is I mean, she's been pretty much on her own for a long time, her mums always working and she's broken. I just want to fix her." I explained, as I looked up I saw him lost in thought for a few moments. "It isn't going to be easy, this girl has probably built a wall so high around her to stop anyone from getting in," but I knew I didn't care, I wanted to break it down, everything came too easy to me and I wanted a challenge. "I'd happily break down her walls, I want to be there for her," I said running my hand through my hair. "Then you need to prove that to her, go talk to her." His voice was commanding. "I tried," I stated "but she wouldn't listen to me, she told me that when another girl comes I'll loose interest." I picked up my beer and finished off the bottle. "And then you walked out on her, you're so predictable. Go back there, talk to her! The poor girls used to people walking out on her of course she's going to think the same from you."
His words hit me, Dylan was the closest thing to a brother I had because he always told me the truth. I was grateful that he was always there. He let out a small chuckle I presume because of my facial expression. "Go." I give him a small nod before heading out the door.
