Silence. That's all there was. No wind blowing through leaves, or birds chirping, or wood creaking under footsteps. I had no clue where I was, there was something over my eyes and my hands were bound, I couldn't move them the slightest. I was sitting down, but I wasn't on a chair, maybe on the floor. I remembered entering a giant house. A mansion four times the size of my own home. The two people who stood in front of me, their eyes filled with amusement and harassment. They had looked like twins, their eyes burning into my mind, what was wrong with their eyes?
Footsteps sounded above me, quiet as they made there way around. Old wood creaked as each foot was placed delicately onto the wood floor. Definitely I was still in a house of some kind. Then, I heard voices, "I told you to stay out of it runt." A deep voice snapped.
"I didn't want ta though! She was the first one to come in ages." A smaller voice replied, another boy but I could tell he was younger.
"Ya, we wanted to see to!" A little girl spoke, with a whine to the edge of her voice.
"It is not for you two to know though." A more mature sounding girl voice spoke. "This is our fun. Come up with a way to get your own prey. Now, get along now." She spoke.
Prey? Was that what I was? How could I be prey though? My heartbeat raced as I listened. This couldn't be happening, it had to be a dream. I was here to get a job, my mother wouldn't send me to some loony bin with these people. Then, I heard the older male voice again, "Oh, sounds like someone is awake. I can hear her little heart flop around." He spoke, I could already see the huge grin that must be playing at his lips. How could he hear my heart?
Footstep's made their way down stairs then they started coming closer to me. I sat up more straight and curled my legs closer to myself. A large creaking sounded, like a large old wooden door was opening and my heart beat faster if that was even possible.
"G-Get away!" I yelled toward the other person but he just chuckled, a deep troughed laugh.
"Oh, how I love you humans and your emotions." He spoke with danger in his tone. I heard him move closer and felt his fingers brush against my cheek as he pulled the black fabric off that had covered my eyes. His hands were so cold, it sent a shiver through out my body.
I blinked at the bright light, trying to clear my vision. I was in a cell, steel bars surrounded me and as I had thought, the door looked old. The hinges were rusted. My eyes soon found the boy. From where I sat, he looked very tall and his strange eyes held a twisted look in them. He had a crazy grin that played with his lips and his black hair fell to the left, mostly covering his bright blue eye. I was sure I was as pale as a ghost by now, I was frightened and I just wanted to leave. Suddenly, two smaller people rushed to his sides. They too looked like twins, just a lot younger. They both had dirty blonde hair and blood red eyes that shone with curiosity and mischief.
"She looks good! Sweet, like a cupcake!!" The boy called out, smirking and licking his lips. My eyes darted from him to the small girl when she spoke up,
"I agree brother! Demetri!!!" She complained, looking up toward the taller, darker boy. "You have to share with us!" She whined."
So the taller boy was Demetri... he still scared me. Demetri spoke, "Sasha, Damien, leave now!" He snapped, pushing them off. They giggled, a horribly creepy thing before running off.
With a sigh the twin of Demetri came in, with her hands on her hips. She didn't look happy. "Why can't we just get this over with? Then the others won't even know. It's bad enough Damien and Sasha know." She growled out.
That is when I decided to speak up, "W-What are you talking about!? Get it over with?? Prey?? Are you people crazy!?" I spoke franticly.
The girl looked at me, her eyes blazing with something, I didn't know what. Suddenly she was right in front of me, "H-How-"
"Look here, you are mine now. Don't fight." She hissed out like a snake before opening her mouth. I screamed as she wrapped her mouth around my neck, a pain shot through me.
Suddenly she wasn't there and Demetri was standing in front of me. "Be careful Victoria. She is to last us, for awhile at least. Not enough people in this town are gullible enough to send their children up here." He spoke gently toward her.
With a frustrated sound, she wiped blood, my blood away from her mouth before she was gone. Demetri turned toward me and I scrambled back from him as much as I could.
"It's okay darlin'." He spoke, crouching in front of me. He brought out a handkerchief from his pocket and started wiping the blood from my neck. I tried getting away from him but there was no where to go. "The twins were right. You do smell sweet. I wont take from you now though." He spoke as he finished wiping up the blood. His eyes met mine and he put a finger under my chin to make my head rise higher. "Poor little soul. Caught up in all this. I will make sure to hide you from the rest, wouldn't want them stealing my prey." He grinned as he got up and left the cell. He shut the door and was then out of my sight.
My heart beat wildly in my chest as my eyes stayed opened wide as I looked at the door. Could they be what I thought they were?
