Hi guys, this is my first story, and so I hope you enjoy it. I want as many people to read this as possible so please share this with your friends!
My eyes snapped open and the first thing I saw was my alarm clock shining on the ceiling. The time was 7.30am, and so I rolled out of bed and started getting dressed. Unlike other girls, I don't really care about my appearance, so I just threw on some clothes, dragged a brush through my hair, put it up in a pony tail, and ran downstairs to grab some breakfast. I sat on the sofa with a sausage roll and my phone, flicking through the newsfeed filled with posts from all the people I knew from school. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a popular girl with loads of friends, or anything like that. No, that's my sister, Liv. I'm Maddie, and I'm an average person. I'm not pretty, not really. I know I could be, if I really tried. And that's not me being full of myself or anything, it's just that my beautiful, popular sister, is my twin sister. And having seen how people react to her, I know that they think she's really pretty, which really gives me hope. If I wanted to, I know I could look nice. Not that I really wanted to anyways, I really can't be bothered to put in the effort of wearing makeup, picking out nice clothes to wear. The people on my Facebook are just people Liv know, friend requesting me in the hopes of being friends with her. Their lives really aren't that interesting though, I click the like button on the first few posts, and then turn off my phone, deciding it best to focus on my breakfast. By this time it's almost 8, and so I run into my room, getting my bag ready, and checking on Liv. She's sitting on the stool in front of her mirror, a makeup brush and pot of foundation in her hands. I go into her room, and shake her shoulders slightly, something I have to do every morning, as she always wakes up at about 5 so she can wash her hair, use a curling iron on it, do full face make-up and go on all her social networking sites so that she can keep up with all the latest gossip, and knows exactly what's happening in people's lives so that she can go into school and just be like "Hey girl! Send your fathers sisters daughters boyfriends mother-in-law a happy birthday from me". And because of this she tends to fall asleep at the chair, meaning she would be late were it not for me waking her up each day. She snorted as she woke up and shook her head, her hands reaching up to rub her eyes, but I shouted "no!" And kind of freaking her out. She jumped up, startled, and I said "sorry, I didn't mean to do that, but you were going to rub your eyes, and I know you'd be upset if your makeup got smudged.
She looked at me, a confused look on her face, but then she yawned and just said "thanks". I smiled at her and grabbed my bag, jogging into the living room to find mums purse and grab a fiver from it for my lunch money for the next couple of days. I checked the time, and seeing as it was only 8, I collapsed onto the sofa with my iPad and turned on SkyGo, starting to watch some of my downloaded shows. After about half an hour I got my mum and sis out into the car and mum drove us to to school. We chatted about what lessons we had that day, but when we got to school, we went in completely different directions. I headed to the library, grabbing the book from my bag and curling up in a corner with it. It felt like I'd been there for no more than a few seconds, but at 8.45 the bell rung to get to class, and so I headed to my lesson. The day was very interesting, I had double biology, English and Technology. I love all my lessons, but I love my free periods almost as much. After school, I texted mum to let her know that I would be going to the library to study for about an hour, and so not to wait up when she collected Liv. I texted the same my sister also, just in case mum had left her phone off. 5 minutes later I got a message back from Liv saying 'Mum just picked me up, I need to talk to you, will meet you at Library.' I didn't bother responding as she'd come no matter what I texted back, so I just sped up my walk, knowing I was almost there, but not wanting them to arrive before me.
After another few minutes I was there, wandering through the many bookshelves that Liv says makes the library resemble a maze. I found a book that looked interesting and went and sat on one of the chairs nearer the front of the library so that she would be able to find me easily. I had just finished the first chapter when she came in, looking out of breath.
"What took you so long? You were in the car, you should have gotten here before me!"
"Yeah, I got here about 10minutes ago, but I couldn't find you anywhere!
"I'm literally sitting about 5metres from the door!"
She just sighed and dragged me to a table with two seats.
"Look," she said "I called you here for a reason, I need to talk to you about something important."
"You didn't call me here! You followed me!" I shot back.
"Yeah, well... Anyways, I wanted to tell you that an exciting opportunity has opened up for me! I wanted you to be the first to know... I won a trip to Las Vegas for the weekend! Isn't it great?I can't wait!"
"That's great Liv! But you know mum will never let you go!"
"Yeah... That's kind of why I wanted you to be first to know, and why I wanted to talk to you here... Umm... I was kind of wondering if you could cover for me? It will just be from Friday morning until Monday evening, I promise."
To be honest, I wasn't quite sure what to say. I mean, I love my sister, I really do, but I didn't know how I was going to make mum and dad think that she was here the whole time. I told her this but she just laughed.
"It'll be easy to fool them! Remember when we were little and we used to do that little trick? You know, the..."
"Switcheroony!" We said simultaneously.
"Yes, I remember that, it was good fun." I said smiling and giving off a slight chuckle. But the smile dropped off my face when I realised what she was saying, and I quickly added "You can't be serious! There's no way I could pass for you! You style your hair and do make up and wear clothes with a completely different style! No one would believe I was you, not at this age! That only used to work because we were little. I don't think there's anyway that would work!"
"Don't worry, I got that covered!" The way Liv said that freaked me out a little, but I listened to what she had to say and thought that, maybe, just maybe, it would work...
