The battle is neigh,

It comes with sacrifices,

He lost the one he loved,

Doesn't care about other lives.

As requested by King, Xander was present for the battle against a sector of demons. They were nasty but pathetically weak. He could combust some of them by mere look . He didn't know why everyone was so worried and panicked about.

"Dethura is here." Adonael told him with a grim tone.

"So?" He asked frowning not sure how to react to the given information.

"She is the black magic demon, she can control minds." Adonael informed.

"And you need me to kick her ass."

Adonael winced at Xander's way of talking but nodded at his question.

"Where to?" He asked and Adonael led the way.

Xander noticed angel warriors sweeping clean the attacking demon population. There were some injured soldiers while he noticed few perished angel and he felt the anger built through him.

The path they moved through was unfamiliar to Xander, it seemed like Adonael knew about all kinds of secret path way to Heaven. It was dark and Xander could feel his feet made a shattering noise on the pebbles in dead silence. The only light source was Adonael's fire torch. As the path ended he noticed that there was smoke and fire at the end of it. He could hear the battle cries and mournful voices.

His pace hastened and he came face to face with a terrifying image. Countless angels lay dead, their faces, their wings smeared with blood. There was a pull in his stomach and a storm build inside him, anger pulsing through him instead of blood.

Among the pool of dead he noticed a woman with her back towards him. She was off average height, slim and a raven black mane flowed behind her like dark water waves. She was emitting green aura, aura of black magic.

"That is her." Adonael said sounding a little wary.

"Dethura!" he called out without a trace of fear or hesitation.

There was no doubt Adonael disapproved.

She turned and Xander smiled at her evilly. Her eyes went wide in surprise.... and awe.

He noticed that she was beautiful with deep blue eyes and high cheek bones. She was draped in a black velvet gown making her look like model ready for a ramp walk.

As he observed her in a tired way, he noticed something prod her mind like a million arrows were to hit him but an automatic shield built inside deflecting all her attempts. Surprisingly all her attacks were futile on him.

"Mind tricks with me love? They don't work." He said lightly moving towards her his insides coiling with anger to kill her for killing so many of his own.

"Ho-How is that possible?" She was really surprised and the confidence on her face faltered.

Xander noticed this and laughed darkly, he seemed nothing like an angel then as anger was surrounding him like waves.

"I am just your bad-ass royal." He stated simply.

She staggered back as he looked at Xander trembling with fear. Even Adonael was intimidated by him then.

"But royals are susceptible to my magic." She said more like a thought to herself but Xander's sharp ears caught it.

"Really? Want to try it again?" He said with fake generosity.

"I did- I did, I made the queen kill herself." She said her face paler than it already was.

It was evident she could feel his temper rising.

Suddenly if felt as if earth shifted from beneath his feet, her words slowly registered and he gulped. His devilish smile gone, replaced with absolute terror and pain. His pupils dilated and he looked at Dethura with pure hatred.

"What did you say?" He asked slowly and dangerously.

She knew she had made a mistake.

Xander didn't wait for an answer, the glow around him wrapped around him blinding everyone in a mile radius. His eyes focused with deathly look on Dethura as she cowered in so much light. He step forward, closer to her and clutched her neck in a tight grip. His slender fingers were blocking her breathing and causing her eyes to water.

She tried all her demon trick but nothing worked.

"Die you filthy demon." Xander said in a voice laced with poison and next moment she burnt under his grasp.

He moved back as he enjoyed watching her burn and screech. It was not an angelic behaviour but he didn't care then.

Her mother was dead. And he was not even there to protect her. He had promised her that he will protect her and he failed. As everything around him a caught fire and burned, his dull mind heard Adonael's voice like an echo calling out to him, to move from the fire.

But he just stood there not worried even if he died right then and a warm tear trickled down his eyes as he realised the toll this battle took on him!
