Chapter 25  “How the hell am I suppose to have my story straight?!”

Recap Alex’s P.O.V:

Before I knew it, my Face Time icon was bouncing up and down. Sam.

I clicked on it and almost cried when I saw his face. He looked like he was going to cry too. We were both smiling and staring at each other. It took about five minutes to actually start speaking.

I was so excited that I asked him about what exact day he was getting here. He was supposed to get here two weeks before the trial.

Sam then spoke. “Actually… I need to talk to you about that…”

A month passed since Sam and I had the conversation. He wasn’t going to be home at the time that he expected. He would be back right before the trial. How am I going to tell him about the baby? How will I tell him the truth?

Linda could tell that I was stressed because of the trial so she took me shopping. I ended up buying a really cute yet serious business suit, a new coach bag, dyed my hair again since my light roots were showing again, got a manicure and pedicure with Linda (my treat), and bought Sam a new suit.

There were less than two weeks left until the trial and any second now Sam would be calling me in a few hours.

I had to run to the hospital for another ultrasound appointment with the doctor. I had forgotten to ask her what her name was but I would make sure to do it today.

I told my parents that I would be checking up on work and that Sarah didn’t have to worry. They were a bit skeptical but since nothing happened since the criminals were caught so they let me go.

When I showed up at the hospital I checked in at the front desk and the secretary sent me straight up to the room.

“Hello Alexandra, how have you been?” The lady said.

“I’ve been great thank you. I actually didn’t get your name last time.” I said sheepishly. The lady laughed.

“Dr. Henning. But you can just call me Emily,” she smiled. I smiled back and lay down.

Emily told me that you could barely see a belly but you could definitely feel it. She put on the cold gel that made me twitch a bit and moved it around until I could hear the heart beat again. This time the baby looked a lot less like a lizard and had the shape of an actual baby. Emily told me to try and relax a bit more since I seemed stressed so I agreed with everything and thanked her after she printed the newest picture for me.
