Just one Kiss

I can hear the loud music surrounding our house from downstairs. For some reason it gives me goose bumps.  I don’t know why, but my skin started to grew goose pimples. I shivered at that thought; maybe, just maybe someone is stroking my arms.

Shaking my head slightly, I run a hand on the contours of my lips. Checking if there are smudges, I also tried to smooth my dark blonde hair, if ever it has messy parts. And then I reached my own library. This is a bedroom before, but since I love reading, and there are lots of rooms in this house, mom decided to just make this my own sanctuary.

I slowly turn the golden knob of the door. Once it opened, it revealed to me a thick shaft of afternoon sun light. Little dusts fly across the room, towards the open window. And beside it, there was him reading a thick book, sitting on my favourite couch. I walk towards the open window as he began to say; “Glad you’re alright.” He said, closing the book firmly, and standing up to walk with me towards the huge window. “Yeah, I’m fine.” My last word came out in a stutter, as I felt his hands brushed on mine. And he chuckled.

“You are really funny.” He said. And I couldn’t help but to cock my brow at him.

“Would you...” I started, feeling my cheeks filled with heat. I took a deep breath, trying to clear my head. I want to ask him to kiss me. It wouldn’t be such a big problem if I ask right? But I would be doomed if he refuse.

“Would I what?”

“Would you, would you kiss me?” I muttered.

I turn my head to watch him, to see what his reaction is might be. He just stared back at me. His eyes were awry, worried and sad. I couldn’t even see a glint of happiness on them.

“Just one kiss.” I whispered again, when he didn’t respond, I felt a deep punch in my gut, embarrassment and humiliation hit my head thoroughly.

I started to turn away in defeat. But a strong hand gripped my wrist firmly.

“Are you really crazy? Huh Princess? A while ago, you stare and scrutinize me like I just did some illicit crime, and then you faint, and now you are here, and now what? You’re asking me to kiss you?” He’s tone wasn’t enraging like his eyes shows, but it came out so fast, that I feel like I need another minute to sink them in my head. I got scared.

“Tell me what the hell your problem is?” he whispered softly, trying to put out the fright in me. But I think he just failed, for I was trembling to fight my tears from bursting.

A single tear I had shed.

And a hand suddenly was there before it fell further to my cheeks.

“I’m sorry.” He said, and looked at me apologetically.
