Unconditional Support pt. 5

When Chester came in the house Lilly tried to climb up Grace's legs. 

"Let's go in the living room" Grace said while picking up Lilly. 

After getting settled in the living room Grace and Chester made small talk while Lilly was glued to Grace's side. Eventually Lilly did get more comfortable around Chester and she even gave him a small hug when he left. 

"So Lilly, what do you think about Chester?" Grace asked.

"He's okay..." Lilly said while yawning.

"Maybe we can invite him over again so you can get to know him better. But for now let's get you ready for bed." Grace says as she picked up Lilly to get her ready for bed. 

That night after Lilly is asleep Grace sits, edits her video for tomorrow, and has a small snack. Once her video exports she closes her laptop and goes upstairs, checks on Lilly, and goes to her room. At around 3:30 that morning Grace woke up to Lilly screaming. Quickly jumping out of bed Grace raced down to her daughters room and woke Lilly up. 

"Hey baby you're okay. Mommy's here. Ssshhh" Grace said softly.

Lilly finally calmed down and Grace picked her up and carried her back to her room where once Grace laid down Lilly curled herself into Grace's side. Grace put her arm around Lilly and gently rubbed her back while she fell back asleep. Grace, however did not sleep. She let her brain run wild. She thought about life before Lilly, life when Lilly was born, and her life now. Quietly Grace grabbed her phone and took a picture of Lilly and herself and posted it on Instagram in black and white with no caption. After changing her wallpaper to that picture she locked her phone and attempted to sleep.

The No Filter Shows went great. Lilly behaved and there were relatively no problems with the show itself. When Grace and Lilly arrived back home they settled back into their routine and everything was going well. Then one day Lilly was staying with her Auntie Mames when she fell and busted her head open.

Grace was in a meeting when Lilly fell and the way she found out was by a single text from Mamrie.

Mamrie: CALL ME ASAP

Grace politely excused herself from her meeting and stepped out into the hallway and called Mamrie. 

"Hey Mames, this better be an emergency you know I'm in an important meeting." Grace says.

"Yeah, it's important. Lilly fell and busted her head open we are on the way to the hospital now. You need to meet us there." Mamrie says. 

"Oh shit. Okay I'm coming!" Grace says and hurriedly returns to her meeting. 

"Everything okay?" Ken asks.

"No, Lilly fell and busted her head open and now Mamrie's taking her to the hospital. I've gotta go." Grace explains as she gathers her belongings.

"Okay, we can reschedule. Go. I'll text you later with all the details and to check on Lilly." 

Upon her arrival to the hospital Grace's mind is racing but she's mainly focused on getting to Lilly. She goes up to the desk and tells the lady that she is here for Lilly Helbig and finds out that she is in room 317. Grace immediately races up to Lilly's room and is greeted by a screaming Lilly and a frazzled looking Mamrie. 

"MMOOMMMMYYY!" Lilly screams as tears run down her face.

Grace walks over to the bed and crawls in next to Lilly, who immediately shoves herself into Grace's side. 

"Ssshhh baby, I'm here. You're fine. You're okay." Grace coos into her ear as she holds her little girl. 

Lilly's cries quiet down and soon enough she is sleeping.

"Mames, what happened?"

"She went outside to play with Beans and she tripped and hit her head on a tree root. Then she just started screaming so I rushed out there to see she had busted her head open and blood was rushing out. So I got a washcloth and put it against her head and rushed here. You called just as we got here. They are going to have to put stitches in but needed a parents consent. I told them you were on the way so they put us in this room. I think the doctor should be back in just a few minuets."

"How did you get her to get in the bed by herself?"

"Oh I didn't just before you got here I was in the bed with her. I heard you coming and moved because I knew she would want you." 

"Thanks Mames, you're the best."

Just then the doctor walks back in and looks at Mamrie who just gives a slight nod. 

"Ah you must be Ms. Helbig" the doctor says.

"Yes, but please call me Grace."

"Nice to meet you Grace. I'm Dr. Liz and I've been helping out Lilly since she was brought in. She's going to be fine but we do need to put in some stitches from where she fell but we couldn't proceed without your consent."

"Yeah that's fine. Lilly's not going to like that though but she'll be fine. I'll be here so she should be okay." 

"Great! I am going to get the supplies and my assistant nurse and we'll be right back. If you could just wake Lilly up and tell her what's going on that would be great. She will probably take the news better from you anyway." 

"Sure thing"

Grace gently wakes Lilly up and explains what is going to happen. That they are going to have to clean her wound and then put stitches in. Lilly goes rigid at the mention of having stitches. Grace pulls Lilly into her lap and just holds her until Dr. Liz comes back. Lilly immediately tries to bury her face in her mothers neck but Grace turns her around so Lilly's back is up against Grace's front and she keeps a tight grip on her daughter, whispering comforting words into her ear. When they begin to clean her wound Lilly starts screaming. After a few torturous minuets of cleaning the wound they are done and Lilly's screams have died down to just crying and pressing her back into her mothers front. Dr. Liz starts putting in the stitches and Lilly cries harder because she is in pain and because she's scared. Once the stitches are put in Dr. Liz tapes some gauze over them to protect them and instructs Grace to clean the stitches every night. Grace, Mamrie, Lilly are allowed to compose themselves before they go and check out. It takes Lilly a solid ten minuets before she would even allow Grace to put her down and when Grace finally did put her down, Lilly went straight over to Mamrie and wanted to be held. They looked like quite the trio on the way out. Mamrie holding a still whimpering Lilly and Grace looking frazzled as she checked Lilly out of the hospital. 

When they get to their cars Mamrie hands Lilly to Grace and tells her that she'll follow them back home. Grace nods and places Lilly in her carseat then climbs into the drivers seat. On the way home Lilly falls asleep and Grace is on autopilot. They arrive home and Grace gently lifts Lilly out of her carseat and carries her inside putting her down on the couch, Goose immediately crawling next to the girl. Mamrie walks through the door a few minuets later and pulls Grace into a tight hug. 

"Thanks for everything Mames. I don't know what I would have done without you today." Grace says.

"You're more than welcome. Honestly it was terrifying. You should have heard her scream when she fell. And then when we got to the hospital she was so scared. She just kept asking for you. I knew you were on the way but still. It was hard." Mamrie replies. 

"Yeah...I should text Hannah and let her know what happen." Grace says. 

"Okay, I'm gonna go. You gonna be okay?" 

"Yeah I'll be fine."
