Rule number 1: trust no one
Preparation is one of those things that you just wish that you can miss, yet, here I am. Galloping the track to gain speed and stamina with Stacy. Stacy is around-a-bout the same speed as me so it is quite a challenge to beat her, even though I do all of the time! I hadn't used this track for a few months now as there is no need to, during the summer. Most of the geldings cheer us on as we gallop through an ocean of mud and sweat. There was one horse that stood out from the rest of them though...
This horse was tall (not as tall as me though) and had a stunning chestnut coat that glistened in the crisp winter sunlight. This horse was surrounded by lots of the geldings who seemed to be extremely interested by the sight. This horse was Liv.
She was making a huge fuss about my little races and bragging about her "amazing" life. I asked her what the problem was and she challenged me. She thought that she could run faster than me, but she was mistaken. I accepted the challenge and made my way to the practice field. I did 3 laps of the field which was enough to loosen my muscles but not enough to tire me out.
Liv, on the other hand, just stayed at the track and gloated about her race winnings in the past. She had (in fact) beat me in a race before, but I was young and hadn't understood the training and effort that goes into racing. I wasn't going to let this happen again.
After the laps of the practice field, I made my way to the starting line.
"Stop painting your hooves and get over here!" I shouted to liv, sarcastically.
"Sounds like the loser is shouting for me, she opens her mouth bigger than the losing scar across her eye!" Liv replied.
Can you see what I mean about her being a bully? She always brings up that I lost last years battle, and insults my scar! To be honest, I like my scar because it makes me look tough!
My legs were shaking like an earthquake as I nervously made my way to the starting line. I knew that if I lost this race, Liv would never let me forget it and nobody will believe that I am capable of winning this years battle of leadership.
On your marks,
Get set,
GO!...
Hey guys, hope you like it! Who will win the race? Read the next chappie to find out! Catcha later!
