I held him tightly in my embrace, our lips moving together perfectly in sync; as though they were made for each other. I couldn't even begin to describe how good it felt to have him in my arms again, to feel his body pressed up against mine. "I love you." I mumbled out against his lips in between chaste kisses. "I love you so fucking much." He finally pulled away from me, still laying on the ground as the rain battered on the ground around us, the sound seeming amplified in my ears since I was so sensitive to my surroundings trying to take everything in, while I stayed straddling his waist. I smiled as his hands ran down my body before finally landing on my hips and rubbing circles into the flesh there where my shirt had ridden up slightly.
"And I love you." He smiled as he sat up, not ever letting me go or move from my position. "Now explain how you weren't on the plane."
"Okay." I whispered, closing my eyes to picture it all as I began to recite my story to him.
"Right that's it you little fucker." I groaned finally losing my temper. Well I'm saying finally, it had only been three seconds since we really only had a matter of minutes separating us between life and death. It's time for me to take some action. "Time to go for a little bit of fresh air." I walked over to the door, opening it and grabbing whoever was closest to me. It turned out that it was Lowther that I had just grabbed by the back of the chute, picking him up and putting him in a fireman's carry so I could get him where I needed him before throwing him straight out of the plane door, watching for his parachute to open.
The boys weren't happy about it but one by one they all jumped, some still having to be thrown out of the door as a little incentive. This continued until there was just me and Jason left stood in the plane. "You know I can't leave you here right." He sighed, walking over and wrapping his arms around my waist to pull me into a tight hug. "We can both go down together."
"Sorry Jay, not happening." Before he even knew what was happening I had him out of the door. That left just me. I could relax now knowing I had done my job and my men were safe and sound, floating peacefully through the air, even though they would be highly pissed off with me. "Time to go." I mumbled to myself, psyching myself up for what I was about to do next.
Taking a deep breath, I ran at the door, hurling myself straight out. There was a second time difference between my jump and my descent as the air rushed past my face. I tried my best to keep myself on a straight so I was lined up with Jason since he was closest to me. Just as I got above him, I reached out my arms and wrapped myself around him, clinging on as though my life depended on it, which coincidently it did. Unfortunately I hadn't quite managed to get my grip on him just right so I had to let go, much to his protest, as he screamed out my name. It only took me a couple of extra seconds to latch onto private bullshit, aka Jack, and this time I made sure to get my hold right. I didn't have enough time to fuck it up again.
Once on the ground I did a group count to make sure everyone was together. It took a good half an hour to find each other where we had landed in the middle of nowhere but we managed it. There were only two people who knew I was actually alive and not caught up in the explosion they all just heard and saw. "One okay." Jack shouted to start us off as I hid behind him.
"Two okay." Christopher shouted as we went through all of our numbers until it finally got to me.
"Fifteen okay." I stepped out to be crushed in a group hug. "You bitches didn't really think you were getting rid of me that easily did you."
Michael smiled even wider as I finished my story and opened my eyes. "You're so amazing do you know that? How can you constantly put other people's lives before your own."
"It's in the job description." We were silent for a few seconds as we listened to the police speakers blaring out stupid negotiations to try and get us down. "We should get going now. Before we do though, do you remember that time we talked about adopting?" He nodded, looking at me confusedly. "I filed the paperwork for us both before I left. When I get down there I'm going to have to leave again for a few months but when I get back, we'll go straight down the adoption centre. I promise."
"Really?" He asked, kissing me passionately. I tried to memorise the feeling of his lips on mine because I knew what came next. We walked downstairs and outside where Michael was immediately ripped away from me and over to an ambulance to be checked over. "You know what happens now don't you." A voice whispered in my ear.
"Time to go." I sighed as I turned to face them, allowing them to cuff me. "Brett." Michael shouted as I was placed inside of a car. "Brett!" I watched from the car window as I was driven away. I knew this would have to happen, I broke protocol and I posed, in their eyes anyways, a serious risk to the public. It was all merely a precaution.
Michael's point of view:
Brett came back six months later and she stayed true to her word. The first thing we did was go down the adoption centre. We ended up adopting a little baby girl who we named Blake, she weirdly looked so much like Brett which was half of the reason we had picked her out in the first place. The second reason wad because she was an abandoned baby found on a marine base and Brett immediately fell in love after hearing her story.
We stayed in our original house. It was big enough, with writing area for me, a play room for Blake which later turned into her study room, an exercise room for Brett and a pool to teach Blake to swim. We had our own little house, our own little family, it was perfect.
Now I'm not going to pretend it was easy. That would be telling a blatant lie because nothing in our lives was ever easy. Things would get especially difficult when Brett was away in deployment or training or when I was on tour with the band but we always managed. We always stuck by each other. We had each other and that was all we needed.
What could be better?
Hey guys,
So I decided I didn't like the original epilogue that I had written so I completely rewrote it. It took me a while but I'm finally happy with it. Please vote and comment telling me which of all the chapters was your favourite, ask me any questions you have that I may have left unanswered and tell me your favourite character and why.
Also don't forget that I made a sequel. It's called His Daughter - Michael Clifford in case you forgot and you guys should go check that out if you enjoyed this book. I would really appreciate it.
Love all you guys.
