The next day was Sunday, Shayne's day off. She had no friends, family or anything better to do in this town, so she called Silvester. The two agreed on visiting the local park.
"This doesn't count as a date, does it?" Shayne had asked sheepishly before she left her house.
Over the phone, Shayne could hear her friend's hearty laugh. "Can't really say I know how to respond to that."
Silvester was a remarkable young man, Shayne thought. He was good looking, with messy brown hair dyed magenta and a happy, gleaming smile. He was close to her own age, and in great health. Silvester's charming personality certainly caught Shayne's attention.
"Okay, I guess we could call it a date, I don't know..." Shayne's voice grew shaky.
"You guess?" Silvester laughed again. "A sort-of date? Let's call it that."
"S-Sure," Shayne smiled." Sort-of date."
At the park, the two talked of familiar things. Not once was BlackJack's mentioned, or even jobs in particular. Instead, Silvester and Shayne spoke of interests and ideas, what to do with life...
Afterwards, Silvester and Shayne ate lunch at a fast food place nearby. The day wasn't much, but it established a growing bond between them.
But after Silvester left, Shayne stood in front of her apartment door, feeling a slight tange of guilt. Was something wrong with this? Shayne didn't think so.
Yet somehow, she thought she was betraying someone that was very close, but very far...
A/N:
Hey guys! Well, the story is progressing kind of slow here. Sorry if this chapter was too boring or too short. But anyhow, I guarantee the next chapter will be a little more interesting!
Writer's block is a pain in the butt!
