Things weren't going well in my family. My older brother decided to leave and go to America, dependent on my parents funds and not his own. We weren't a very rich family as well. My parents started to bicker more often and I hated every single moment of it. My little sister was still in grade three and I didn't want her family to be broken at her age. Well, our family.
Life was the same constant routine. Wake up, get ready for school, eat breakfast, hear my parents argue, go to school, get pushed around, come home, do homework while listening to my parents argue, then help my little sister do homework, eat dinner, wash up, and go to bed. My life never got better, in fact, it got worse every single day.

My phone played Big Bang's If You as I opened my eyes to be greeted by my little sister, Dahee. It was a soft song but it was Dahee that made it into a loud hip hop song.
"Dahee yah! Be quiet!" I groaned.
"Miyoung-ah, ppali! (Hurry up!)" her voice echoed in my room. She pulled open my curtains while she lip-synced to the song. I reached over to my night table, shutting off my alarm. I pulled the covers over my head and kept sleeping. My room went silent for a bit before a small figure landed on top of mine. I shrieked and rolled off my bed, earning a bruise on my hip.
"Dahee! Get out of my room before I open my eyes! Or I'll make you go to school alone with Kim Changho for the whole week!" I shouted. I heard her little feet smack the hardwood floor out of my room. I smiled and stretched, yawning in the process.
I stood up and quickly made my bed, realizing that it was 8:30am. I quickly brushed my teeth and brushed my long wavy hair. I slipped on a pair of faded blue skinny jeans and a loose white t-shirt. I grabbed my backpack on the way out of my bedroom door. I walked further down the hall when I started to hear my parents shouting at each other, they were trying to keep it down but I was worried when I saw Dahee's room door shut.
I knocked on her door, waiting for her response for me to go in but I didn't hear anything. I tried turning the door knob but it was locked. She never locked her door.
"Yah! Dahee! Open up!" I shouted, smacking her door.
I still didn't hear anything.
"Lee Dahee! Are you in there? Can you hear me?" I yelled, jiggling her door knob furiously.
I was getting concerned now, did she hear something my parents said? Was she crying? I sighed in frustration and ran a hand through my hair. I ran to my room, grabbing a bobby pin and stuck it through the keyhole of her door knob. I heard the lock click and I immediately opened it, running inside. I saw her curled up in a ball in the corner of her room with her knees tucked in close to her body. Her back moved up and down as I heard her faint sobs. I threw my backpack onto the floor and closed the door behind me.
"Dahee! Are you okay? Why are you crying?" I said, running up to her, kneeling down.
I held her chin up so she looked at me and it looked like she had been crying for a while now.
"Yah, Lee Dahee, answer me." I said sternly.
"I-I heard d-dad say that he was going to k-kill mom if she didn't do what he told her to do." she whimpered.
My eyes widened when I heard that. I've heard a lot of things from that mans mouth, but never something like this. I sighed and stood up, pulling her uniform out of her closet.
"Get dressed, we're leaving." I said, pulling out one of her big backpacks form her closet. She got up and wiped her tears and started to get dressed.
