I jolt upright, seeing my bedroom a big mess. Groaning, at my alarm clock, I get out of bed and start towards my bathroom, attempting to avoiding the people on the floor. I am never having another sleepover in my life.
"What time is it?" I hear from the bathtub. I spin around, my toothpaste creeping down my chin.
"Christian?" I blurt, spitting toothpaste everywhere. I spit the remainder into the sink. "Why are you in my bathtub?"
He sits up and rubs his head, realizing where he is. "Um...I don't really know."
I roll my eyes, then continue brushing my teeth. Moving on to my hair, I notice that Christian is staring at me the whole time.
"Why are you staring at me?" I ask, turning around.
He blushes and looks away. "You're just really, um—"
He's cut off by Adrian who stumbles in. "Hey, Laura? I, um, I'm really sorry, but I need to pee." He points to the toilet. "I'll just be a second."
Walking out, I pull my hair into a bun, scrapping my earlier idea for straight hair. Christian runs out, bumping into me. We both fall on the floor, him on top of me.
Being so close to him, I see that he has freckles dotting his nose and cheeks; his eyes are bright green with little blue flecks around his pupil. "Uh," he says, breaking my thoughts. "Why are you staring at me?"
I blush. "Your eyes are pretty," I whisper, making him grin.
We both stand up and see that Scar, Zach, and Aiden are staring at us.
"What?" I instinctively ask.
"You do realize that you were in the hospital yesterday, right?" she asks, crawling over to Zach.
I stop in my tracks. "I was?"
Everyone stares at me, including Adrian, who just walked through the bathroom door.
"Um, yeah?" Zach says, waving his arm around from his spot on my bed. "You don't remember?"
I shake my head and walk quickly over to the dresser. That would explain why my head hurts so much...
"You know," Christian whispers in my ear, his hot breath startling me. "You and I could stay home today."
I whip around with a big grin on my face. My reaction has him smiling. I lean in to his ear and whisper, "Your breath smells really bad."
At that, his eyes grow wide and he runs to the bathroom, probably to brush his teeth. Everyone laughs as he returns with a toothbrush sticking out of his mouth.
"Wanna try again?" he asks, his mouth still full of toothpaste.
I smile as I pick my clothes for today. "No thanks. I've missed enough days because of you. My school attendance resumes today."
My mother bursts through my door. "Laura, sweetie. I've been l—" She stops, seeing all the people in my bedroom. "Well, I've been looking for you. I informed the school that you aren't returning to school until the week after next."
My jaw drops, cutting off my thoughts. "I—You can't do that!" I yell. "I have to go to school! There's no wa—"
Christian grabs my hand. "Calm down. I'll stay with you, Scarlett will get your assignments, and Aiden will inform you of any school gossip."
I nod, trying not to laugh because he still has toothpaste all over his mouth. I can't miss school! Accepting that I'm not in control, I give in. "Alright. Fine," I say, throwing my clothes on the floor. "Mom, you can leave."
