How was she going to survive for 5 years?

________________

Su Jin stared out the window, trying to remember as much as possible of all the buildings and people that passed by as the car drove. She wondered how much of it would be the same by the time she returned.

Would the convenience store still be there? would the streets and buildings still be the same? Would Choi Young Do still be the same?

The car arrived at the airport and Su Jin got out of the car, no one said a word as they made their way through the procedures and towards the boarding area. Just as Su Jin was about to say goodbye to her grandfather, he pulled her into a hug

"mianhae, (I'm sorry) I hope you forgive me."

Su Jin merely nodded in reply as she rushed to turn around and walk away. She thought that she could make it without feeling sad or crying but she wasn't too sure now as she felt the corners of her eyes sting slightly. Tilting her head up so that the tears wouldn't fall out, she took a calming breath. The truth was her entire life was spent in Seoul and here she was, going to another country all by herself. The only thing she had driving her to survive and come back in 5 years was to make her grandfather proud.

And to see Choi Young Do again.

Choi Young Do slowly opened his eyes, the sunlight streaming through the gaps of the curtains making him squint. Sleep had completely avoided him until the early hours of the morning, his thoughts completely taken over by Su Jin.

Had he heard her right?

He wondered why she would say something like that before she left, which led him to think that maybe it was just some kind of joke. He felt an unusual sensation each time he repeated her words in his head, his breath would halter for a split second and his heart would beat that extra beat. He couldn't pin the reason behind it but he figured it probably had something to do with the unusualness of the whole situation. But there was also that moment her lips touched the corner of his mouth sending a jolt up his spine.

Maybe he liked her too....

That was an option that he was not going to consider at all. He wasn't going to dwell on something or someone that was not going to be around because as he knew from experience that just brought pain. Not to mention, she had only been in his life for a few months... how much affection could he have possibly gathered for her in such a short time? Very little.

This meant that it shouldn't be very difficult to pretend that she never existed.

A few weeks later

"Aish where'd I put that business card?"

Choi Young Do made his way to his closet as he took out every jacket, checking their pockets for the business card that he received from Daijin Corps. He needed to find it.

After about 6 jackets he felt something in the inner pocket of the jacket he was currently holding and pulled it out to find a folded piece of paper. Choi Young Do didn't recall ever putting that paper in his pocket, wondering where it came from he slowly opened it to see writing in large letters at the top which said, 'Ramen's rules for Choi Young Do'.

Choi Young Do blinked a few times as he looked at the paper in his hand, questioning when Su Jin had put such a thing in his pocket. He read over the 'rules' that she had set for him.

Be honest with yourself and those around you

Stop getting into fights (I won' be there to look after you)

Treat others the way you would want to be treated

Don't live of ramen alone

With sadness will definitely come happiness so just be patient.

Don't gel your hair up, leave it down because it suits you more

Stop hurting yourself by hurting others

Practice your taekwondo (you're actually pretty weak)

Just be your real self (as hard as it is to believe, the real you actually has a lot of charm)

Don't forget me

He couldn't forget her no matter how hard he tried and boy did he try. Remnants of her was just everywhere and sometimes he swore he could hear her voice in his head. He hadn't realized how big a part of his life she had become even though she had been in his life for such a short time. The real reason he couldn't forget her though, was because she was a person who had cared about him and that was something very important to Cho Young Do since for a long time he had to fend for himself. The fact that she wrote these rules said it all.

Why do the people that leave him always make it hard for him to let go?

There was something that scared him about these rules though because the truth was that he was already doing most of them without even realizing. If he had to give a reason to his actions he would probably blame it on the Su Jin that hung around in his mind, telling him what to do. Choi Young Do let out a broken chuckle as his fingers tightened around the piece of paper in his hand.

He never even said a proper thank you or goodbye to her before she left and because of that he had looked for her but came up with nothing. The truth was, despite how important she became to him there was barely anything he knew about her which made it impossible to find her. He didn't know where she lived, he didn't even have a simple picture of her and the lack of information frustrated him to no end.

If he ever saw Su Jin again he was going to give her a piece of his mind.

2 months later

Su Jin made her way down the crowded hallway to her lecture, she was surprised at the liveliness of the place when she had first arrived but after a while she was grateful for their friendly attitude. She sat in her lecture with her phone out as she flicked through the daily Korean news, figuring it to be a good way of keeping in contact with the world that she would have to be a part of. There was always news about something related to someone that she remembered went jeguk high school. It was kind of funny yet sad that she saw people she knew through the news.

Sometimes, she wished that she had a way of contacting Choi Young Do or at least knowing how he was doing and ask him if he found her letter. When Su Jin had got here she thought that she could start anew and forget about Choi Young Do but she always came back to comparing the people around her to him or finding similarities between him and other people.

Su Jin wasn't sure if she was ever going to forget him. She wondered what she would do the next time she saw Choi Young Do... probably run away.

But then again he probably wouldn't even remember her by the time she saw him again.
