Megan
I'm in the kitchen washing the dishes when I hear the doorbell ring. Both of my roommates are downstairs, so I stop what I am doing to go answer the door. I open the door and see a man in a UPS uniform holding a package.
"Hi. Delivery. Please sign here." He says as he hands me his tablet thing.
I sign. "Thank you." I say as I take the package, which is addressed to me.
"That's weird," I think, "I didn't order anything." I sit down on the couch and start to open it.
"What did you order?" My roommate, Jessica, asks as she walks into the living room.
"Nothing." I reply.
"Who's it from?"
"I don't know. There's no return address."
I get the wrapping off to find a white box. I take the top off and my breath catches. My eyes go immediately to the yellow name and numbers. Kane 88. There's an envelope on top of the jersey.
"What is that? Why would someone send you that?" Jessica, who knows nothing about hockey or sports in general, asks.
I ignore her and open the envelope. Inside is a note and all it says is "Found you...finally. Patrick"
"It's from him." I tell Jessica. "Patrick."
"That hockey player? Seriously?! How did he find you?"
"I don't know." I pick up the jersey. It's his All-Star jersey. Signed. I run my fingers over his signature.
Jessica picks something up from underneath the jersey. "He sent you a Blackhawks game ticket. He wants you to wear the jersey to the game." My friend observes.
"Obviously. But why send me a jersey, especially the All-Star jersey? Why wouldn't he send me a Hawks jersey if he wanted me to have one?" I ponder.
"I don't know..." Jessica says as our other roommate, Ashley, walks into the room.
"What's going on?" Ashley asks.
Before I can say anything, Jessica pipes up, "Megan got a package from Patrick. It has a jersey and a game ticket in it."
"Cool. Let me see." Ashley says as she takes the jersey from me. "He signed it too. That's awesome!"
Jessica says, "But we can't figure out why he sent her an All-Star jersey."
"Hmm, well it's new isn't it?" Megan wondered out loud.
"Yea. I think it was just released the other day." I say.
"So most likely no one will have it yet." She concludes.
"Yea, so?"
"So...he will be able to spot you more easily. Where is your seat?"
"Umm, it says second row. Section 110."
She immediately grabs her phone. "Here is a seating chart. You are sitting pretty much across from the bench. He wants to be able to see you." She shows me the seating chart on her phone.
Jessica squeals, "Ohmygoodness! That's totally why. Everyone is going to be wearing regular Hawks jerseys and if he wants to be able to see you, this is how he can! He is totally into you."
He wants to be able to see me. I have thought about him every day since Christmas Eve when I left his house and I have kicked myself every day since then for not leaving him my phone number.
