Patrick

After stopping for sandwiches, we arrive back at my place.  Megan gets out of her car, and I grab her and pull her into me.  She smells just as I remembered every time I thought about her.

"Can you work from home tomorrow?  And by home I mean here?" I ask her.  She doesn't answer right away.  I can see her thinking about it.  "I only have practice tomorrow, so once I get back we could hang out.  Make up for the lost three weeks."

"I can do that.  Just let me grab my work bag out of the car."  She replies.

"You have your work bag with you?"  Hmm, did she expect to stay, did she want to stay, plan to leave here for work.  Maybe she wants this as bad as I do.

"Yes, I always take it with me when I leave work.  Sometimes I work on it on the weekend, but usually it just sits in the car until Monday morning when I go to work."  Hmm, or maybe I am just reading too much into it.

"Do you have a change of clothes?"  I ask her trying to read her expectations.

She looks at me with a tilted head.  "I'm not that presumptuous, Mr. Kane."  She says with a scowl.

She shoves me lightly on the shoulder, hands me the bag of food, and goes back into her car.  Once she has her bag, we head toward the elevator.  As we are waiting for the elevator, I turn to ask her what she thought of the game, but she interrupts.

"Wait.." she says as she turns and grabs my arm.  "how did you find me?"

"Can't it be my little secret?"  I say as the elevator arrives.

"No, that's just creepy."  I laugh at her response.

"Maybe all you need to know is that I will always find you, sweetheart.  Always."  I lean toward her and soften my voice as I say this.  Her cheeks flush, and I am just about to kiss her as the elevator door opens.

Megan

"Patrick!  Hey, man!  How are you?"  I look up...way up and see Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls standing in the elevator as Patrick and I step in.

"I'm great, Derrick. How are you?"  Patrick says as he reaches out his hand to shake Derrick Rose's.  Compared to Derrick Rose, Patrick looks like a midget.  It's quite a comical sight.

"Getting better.  Still have a few sore days, but feeling stronger each day."  He replies.

"Glad to hear it.  Oh, sorry.  Megan, this is Derrick Rose.  Derrick, this is my girlfriend, Megan."  I am reaching out my hand to shake Derrick's when the word girlfriend comes out of Patrick's mouth.  I think I might pass out in this elevator in front of Patrick Kane and Derrick Rose.

"Nice to meet you, Megan."  Derrick says shaking my hand.

"You too."  I am able to mumble out.  Luckily the doors to the elevator open to Patrick's floor before anything more is able to be said.

"Have a good night, Derrick."  Patrick says with a wave as we head down the hallway to his door.

Girlfriend.  He said girlfriend.  What does that mean?  It's been two dates, kind of.  Stop reading into it. What was he supposed to say...this is a girl I met three weeks ago and this is only the second time we have been together.  But why choose girlfriend?

As Patrick unlocks the door and we enter his kitchen, he says, "Okay.  I will tell you how I found you.  It's actually not that creepy."  Patrick starts.
