The Truth

"Doctor, will she be okay?" a deep voice asked. A boy, definitely. His voice was dripping with concern.

I heard shouting in the background. "What the hell is wrong with you? Every time you come around, Ember gets hurt!" a girl screamed.

I tried to open my eyes, but I was too tired. I slipped back into unconsciousness.

I opened my eyes to a bright room.  What the hell happened to me? Then the memories flooded back. The party. Hayes. Shawn. My rant.

I looked around there were so many people in my tiny hospital room. Passed out on the chairs were Harmony and Ken. Hayes was sleeping on the floor, drooling.

I shifted my eyes to my right. There he was in all of his glory. Shawn sat at the foot of my bed, with his head down. I couldn't see his face, but the sheet was soaked with tears. He doesn't deserve to cry over me. Why does he even care?

Suddenly he looked up. The frown that was once plastered on his face, turned into a smile. "Ember you're awake!" he screamed. He quickly wrapped his arms around me, and before I could say anything he leaned into my ear and whispered, "I thought I lost you again".

"Los-" I began to say. "EMBERRRR" someone screamed. The person pushed Shawn off me (which I was thankful for) and tackled me. As if that wasn't bad enough, another person pounced on me.

"Guys... can't bre-breathe." I squealed. Yes squealed. I felt the weight shift. "Guys can I talk to Hayes alone please?" Harmony and Ken nodded and shuffled out.

Shawn didn't move. I looked at him and said, "Do you need a special invitation or something?" he looked down and slowly walked out the door.

"Hayes, look at me." he refused to look me in the eye. "How could you trick me like that?" I asked.

He finally looks up and said, "I know you might think that Shawn is a bad guy, but he's not. That night was a mistake." I shook my head. "How would you know? Why should I trust you?"

"Ember, you know I would never lie to you. He loves you. His friends found out, and threatened him." he said solemnly. Wait what?

"Loves me? What do you mean  threatened?" I grabbed Hayes by the collar and forced him to look at me. "Hayes look at me. What do you mean by threatened?" I yelled.

"His so called friends threatened him, his family, his career... and you." my grip on his shirt loosened. I slumped back onto the bed. "I don't agree with his actions, but he did it because he loved you."

"I might not be so experienced in this "love" thing but I'm pretty sure that making someone want to kill herself, isn't what love really means."

"He didn't know that things for you would have been the same either way..." he said. "Why is he even here?" I asked

"A while back, he discovered an email from Harmony. It was sent the day you attempted suicide. He called me up, and begged me to help him out. He put his career on hold. He came back for you."
