Kirk's P.O.V

I feel like shit.

1) I lied to Anna about Pike.
2) I haven't slept in days
3) The assignment ceremony is tomorrow.

I shook my head, I was driving back to the hospital. Anna should be discharged about now.

Back in the day, I think...2013? People with coma's didn't get discharged until another week after; But today we have better hospitals and medicines, so its easier to recover from things. How did people do it back then?

I think I should tell her when I pick her up. She'll hate me, and then she can sleep it off. Right?

I yelled in frustration and hit the steering wheel, making me swerve a little bit. I got a few honks, but whatever.

I pulled into the patient pick-up/drop-off center to pick up Anna. I sighed, and put on the best fake smile I could manage. A nurse led me to her room. I heard Anna arguing with someone about to many needles. The nurse gave me a 'good luck' look. I thanked her and I opened the door. They didn't notice me come in, and they were still arguing.

"You were going to do what?!" Anna yelled.

"Well, you just got knocked on the head...it wasn't that serious. Other people needed more care than you!" The nurse yelled back. Anna opened her eyes wide.

"What happened to equality?! Oops, I'm sorry is that a too big word for you?" Anna asked sarcastically.

"You're getting crazy again, don't make me force you under, girl!" The nurse yelled in Anna's face.

"Um, guys that's enough.." I said, trying to calm them down. They didn't listen to me.

"Um, hello? Are you guys listening to me?" I asked. No answer.

"Oh,I know! I'm so sorry! I have an idea! How about you take that idea and STICK IT UP YOUR A-" Anna was saying.

"HEY! Does anyone notice me standing here?!" I cried. The nurse looked so pissed, that I wouldn't be surprised if she blew up right there. She snatched the discharge pad and shoved it in my face. I signed it quickly and she stomped off saying curses so bad, that if I said them my mother will come down from heaven and put soap in my mouth herself. I saw that Anna was already ready and I took her bags.

"Lets hurry and get out of here, before that nurse comes back and kills both of us." Anna said. I nodded and we rushed to my car. Then we sped off.

Anna asked me how the rehearsal went, it was tiring actually. No one, not even the instructors wanted to be there. But Spock and I left early, to discuss the incident with *Admiral Pike's Boss. He luckily allowed the USS Enterprise look for Khan, and Spock is back to my First Officer...wonderful. The problem is, Anna is on my ship and I can't change it. So she's going with us. She was the only family I have left, I don't want to lose her. Anna doesn't know any of this, and I have no idea when to tell her!

We pulled up to my apartment, and I helped bring her bags in. She apparently loved my place, it wasn't dirty because I almost never was in it. My real home is on the Enterprise. This is only my temporary 'home' when it's holiday or something. It was a 2 bedroom, with a small kitchen and a huge living room. Anna laid on my couch and sighed.

"I love your apartment, it's so...I don't know, cool." Anna said happy. I shrugged.

"Well, I'm glad you like it." I replied. London was a pretty cool place to live. I gave her a grand tour of my apartment and she loved her room too. She wasn't picky, thank God. It was late, and we had to get up early for the Ceremony. She kept asking what ship she was on and I kept my lips shut. Her favorite was the Enterprise, because she's heard so many rumors.

"What kind of rumors? It's not such a exciting ship.." I said. She looked at me like I was crazy.

"The Enterprise is the best ship! Didn't you hear about Nero and how crazy he was! And the captain saved Admiral Pike and Spock basically saved Earth. Who wouldn't want to be on that ship!" She said. She was right it's tons of fun to be on the crew, but it's also very dangerous.

"Okay, whatever you say Anna." I said putting my hands up in defense.

"Lets get some rest, we have to get up early tomorrow for the ceremony." I said.

Anna's P.O.V

I woke to hear an alarm. A very loud one indeed. I groaned and rolled over to hit it, but I didn't feel anything. I cracked open one eye to see where it was. Then I realized I wasn't in my StarFleet dorm, I was in Jim's apartment. He has a REALLY loud alarm, I thought. I was already up, so I decided to hunt down the alarm clock that was making the sound.

I went out of my room, and I went to the huge living room. Last night when I walked in I fell in love with the place. It was so big and open, I don't know why but it felt...homey. Okay, back to the alarm. Didn't Jim hear that? Seriously, everyone in the whole building can hear it. I looked in the kitchen..no alarm. I looked in the living room....no alarm. I looked in the bathroom..no alarm. Jim is actually surprisingly clean, most bachelor pads have pizza, beer bottles, and junk all over the place. Then I remembered the girl that broke Jim's heart. Maybe she lived here, and she made him keep clean. That's what I would do, but I have never had a boyfriend before so I would never know.

Then I looked in the last place possible...Jim's room. The door was unlocked, and I slowly opened it. There it was...the alarm, but it was right next to his ear and he looked like he was sleeping. I guess he was a stomach sleeper, and his face was pressed into the pillow. He was snoring very loud an there was some drool on his pillow. His sheets were all over the place and he was in an awkward position. I laughed at the sight, this was hilarious. I went to the alarm to shut it off and it didn't shut-off, it just got louder and louder. I decided my fun was over, and I gently shook his shoulder.

"Hey Jim, time to wake up. Your alarm won't turn off! Assignment ceremony.." I yelled over the noise. He just rolled over still snoring. I stood up straight.

"Jim, lets go it's time to wake up!" I yelled a little louder...more snoring. Damn, he's a heavy sleeper. I got an idea. I found a StarFleet gun by his uniform, I picked it up. It wasn't that heavy, and it was easy to carry. I pointed the gun at the alarm and shot. The alarm instantly stopped, but Jim didn't wake up. He just kept on snoring. I really didn't want to be late, so I had to take desperate measures. I shot next to the pillow he was on and it made a hole in his mattress. Finally he woke up, and he fell of his bed.

"What the hell! What happened!" He yelled. His hair was messed up and he had dried drool all over his face. Man, what a sight.

"What happened to my alarm, why didn't it go off? And why are you holding my gun!" He said.

"Your alarm did go off, and you slept through it. You need a new bed and alarm by the way. Hurry up! We don't want to be late!" I said walking back to my room to get ready.

We were surprisingly on time to the ceremony. It was kind of like Graduation, but where was Pike? He's Captain, he's supposed to be here. I'll ask Jim before we board our ships.

While I was in line I noticed Jim sitting with the captains, wasn't he First Officer? I didn't see a seat for Pike either. Something weird was going on, what's Jim keeping from me. If he is I swear I'm going-

"Anna Kirk, The USS Enterprise...with, well isn't this lovely...Captain James T. Kirk." The announcer said.

What! CAPTAIN Kirk? Wasn't Pike captain of the Enterprise? Something's wrong...very wrong. When I revived my uniform from the announcer he whispered in my ear.

"I'm sorry for your loss, I know he was a great roll model for you." He said.

"Who? I didn't lose anyone."

"Oh, goodness. You were in your coma, when it happened."

"What!"

"Admiral Pike..well...he's dead."
