BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP BLE-
I stopped my alarm and rolled out of bed, literally. I groaned, I just wanted to lay there. I didn't want to get up today.
"Yes you do!" I heard a voice from the bathroom. The person stuck their head out of the bathroom. It was my roommate Terra. "Stay out of my head!" I yelled. "Well get up then!" She yelled from the bathroom. I groaned and got up.
"What's so important about this ceremony anyway?" I asked. "Seriously Anna?" She said as she raised her eyebrows. I leaned against the bathroom door. I waited. "The Graduation Ceremony is like any other Graduation. They call your name, you go up smiling your ass off, grab your diploma, on your diploma it will tell you what ship you're assigned too, then you take a picture with you're family member, then you sit with the family member. Didn't you listen yesterday?" She said. I sighed.
"I'm not going." I say flatly. "What? What do you mean you're NOT going?" She asked. "The whole point in the graduation is to connect with your family." I waited so she could get the point.
The point was I didn't have any family, my dad died a long time ago. Wel he wasn't my real dad. He was my brothers dad. But my real dad was a bastard so the "dad" title didnt fit him. My mom died after she got married to "dad". After mom died my brother ran away from home and never came back. Leaving me with "dad". I got the chance to go to Starfleet academy and I immediately took the chance. Here I am now. No family. So basically I was an orphan.
"Oh." Her face saddened. "Maybe General Pike will do it with you!" She suggested. That lifted my spirits up. Inside I was jumping up and down. But instead my reply was, "Yeah, well maybe. Thanks Ter." She smiled. "That's what friends are for. Now get your ass up, so we can get there early." I smiled.
As we got ready I asked, "what ship do you want?" "I don't really know. I don't really care ether. As long as I'm on one!" She said. "Same here, actually." I reply.
"I did hear, that the USS Enterprise is the most fun. It's also very dangerous. But look on the bright side, the captain is hot!" She said. I scrunched my nose, "Really? That's going to be awkward, having a crush on the Captain." I said. "I guess." She said only half listening.
When we were all ready, we headed to the auditorium. I got super excited! I'm going to get my diploma! I was going to get my uniform! On the outside I was just calm and relaxed. I really hope Admiral Pike will be here. He was my closest friend, besides Terra.
We got our uniforms on, and the ceremony started. Our teacher gave a speech on how wonderful we are, and how he gives us his best wishes and stuff. After that, some people made some speeches. I wasn't really paying attention, because I was scanning the room for Admiral Pike. I noticed there were a lot of people. Grandparents, Cousins, Siblings, Mothers, Fathers. So may family members.
I finally spotted him sitting next to an empty seat. I have him a small wave, and he smiled and waved back. Pike was like a father to me. I even called him Dad.
Then the diploma part started. I was nervous but excited at the same time. We were in backwards alphabetical order by last names, so I was towards the back of the line. I kept glancing at Pike, I began to get curious about the empty seat next to him. Usually he sits by ether the headmaster or Captains. Not by himself.
Then the back door near him opened quickly. And young man, at least around my age came and slid next to him. He was extremely late and he looked like he got ready in a rush. His uniform was uneven. Then I noticed he wore a Captain's Uniform. I didn't know why, but he looked so familiar it bothered me. He also looked a lot like me. He had bright blue eyes, dirty blonde hair, he looked a lot like me.
I looked over again, and the mystery captain smiled and waved at me. I raised my eyebrow at him. But waved back. "Terra Roberts." My teacher announced. I smiled, and I slightly nudged her up on the platform. He gave her her diploma and she went to take the family picture. Her Parents and Grandparents were there. They kept kissing all over her and giving her hugs saying how proud they were of her.
After they left to sit down, my name was called. "Anna Kirk." I stepped up. He gave me my diploma and said so quietly, "Do you have family here? If not-" I cut him off. "That's fine, I have Admiral Pike today." He looked over and nodded. I smiled shook his hand. As I stepped over I saw Admiral Pike and Late Mystery Captain stand up and come over. I gave Pike a weird look. He smiled.
"Hey Anna! Congrats! I'm so proud of you. Sorry I'm late though. I'm here right." He said all in one breath. "Um, thanks. But I don't really know you." I said. "Oh yes you do, now give me a hug." He said. We stood for pictures, and smiled. Through a grin I said, "I really don't know who you are." "He said through his grin, "Oh yes you do."
As we walked Late Mystery Captain leaned over in my ear. "I hope you now every girl in this room is staring at you with pure envy right now." "What?!" I scream-whispered. I looked around and I saw that he was right. "Let's make them angrier shall we?" He asked when we sat down. Before I could ask how, he kissed me on the cheek. Not in a romantic way but in a loving family way. All the girls gripped their chairs even harder. One broke one and said it was loose.
"Who. Are. You." I said really irritated. No one kisses me, NO ONE. "Anna, I'm your brother. James." I just sat there mind blowing.
