I trekked through the trees and over the mountain, I looked back at my house and sigh. It will be a long day and I've only hiked over two mountains so far. In the distance past my house I can see the freeway and hear the engines of the trucks. I put my hand down and rub the fur of my German Shepherd, "Good boy, Hachi." he whines and looks up.

I continue my hike, sometimes pulling off my backpack at times and eating a snack or getting a drink of water. After about three hours my IPhone starts to vibrate in my Jean pocket.

"Hello?"

"Jade? Where have you been?" my father asks angrily.

"I went on a walk. You guys were fighting so I left..." I explain, referring to Dad and my brother Jackson's argument.

"Yeah, well Jackson went home. Back to Chelsea and the kids"

"Okay well I'm almost to my spot so I'll come home in a little bit."

"Don't take long and make sure that there's no mountain lions. Remember if you see it first, you have a chance, but if it spots you first...that sucks."

"Well I have my machete, bow and arrows, and staff. I wish you'd give me a gun though."

"Not a chance. Bye love you."

"Love you to, bye." I hang up the phone.

Me and Hachi keep walking until we hear a branch crack. He let's out a low growl.

"shhh." I get into a fighting position with my sharpened staff (or spear) and wait.

Another crack. Another. Then ruffled leaves. And all the sudden ten birds take off out of a bush. "Well that was unexpected." I sigh in relief.

In twenty minutes I reach my lake. It's rather small but pretty awesome considering that I live in Utah. But especially because we're so high up in elevation. I found this a year ago when I turned thirteen, no one knows about it besides my dog though. It's beautiful up here, tons of pine trees and juniper and a few willows. Also some cat tail and lilies. A rose bush that's out of place. This it's my favorite place even though it's not on our property I love it. When I was about one, a fire came through the mountains and burned all the trees and left nasty sticker bush's and burnt trees, also weeds and dirt that's so hard packed that we can't grow anything.

I have a father who's fifty two named Darrell, he was born in Las Vegas, and my mother Lora, was forty nine when she died, I was seven then. I was born in 2002 and now it's 2016. my oldest sister is my half sister on my mom's side, English who's thirty and lives in Vegas, her two children Jason and Anna are my age, but Jason's a few months older, they live with there dad In Lake Havasu. June is my half sister on my mom's side and Is twenty eight, she lives in Texas with her husband Donald and three kids Tim, Devin, and Kevin with another kid on the way. Then my half sister on my dad's side is Jacky, we don't know anything about her. My dad met her once when she was a baby. After her is my brother Jackson who's twenty five lives in St. George with his wife Chelsi, kids Lily, Rollan Tyler, Thor and Peper on the way. Next in the family is Ivy who's twenty who lives in St. George with her boyfriend Joe and baby Adam. After Ivy is Dawn who is seventeen and goes to Vine View High School, he stays with Grandma because we live on a mountain in Pintura 2.3 miles into the mountains. After Dawn is me. Jade Michelson. I am fourteen years old and stay with my cousin Erik and go to Vine View Middle School. We have fourteen horses, but right now they're in Cedar staying with my dad's friend because we don't have enough money to take care of them right now. I have my German Shepherd, Leopard Gecko and my dad has a cat. We used to have tons of chickens, goats, rabbits, ferrets, and other animals including dogs like Akita's and even poodles because my moms poodles bred with my dad's Akita. He wasn't happy.

I sit down on a rock overhang of the lake and make a nutella sandwich breaking off parts and tossing them to Hachi. I lay down and let the sun warm me up. After a few minutes I pull out my phone and start taking a video saying, "Hello, I am jade Michelson, this is my dog Hachi and I am up in the mountains where my lake is and- what Is that?" I look around, there's a strange high pitched shrieking sound. It's getting louder and louder, I run over to a tree and set my phone on a tree far away and start looking around for the noise. It's getting very high pitched now. Very high pitched. "Ah!" I clamp my hands over my ears. "Hachi! Go!" he runs without hesitation down the mountain although I know he'd never abandon me. I'm on my knees now, it's getting horrible. And then a giant flash of white light explodes and I feel myself lifted off then ground and slam my back and head into something hard, the last thing I see is a smoldering white stone.
