Chapter 3~
I slip back inside the Fall Out Prison, heading straight for my room. The funny thing about the situation was that everything was silent and covered on the heavy smell of sleep.
My room was a metal walled cell- no it didn't have any bars like in those old jails back in ancient times- located on the tenth floor of the Fall Out Prison. This was the floor where the prisoners are held so it was naturally the largest floor and the most cramped.
I easily hack the electric lock that sits on a keypad next to my door. The code is 863-A21. Serenity taught me how to hack things, not that a magician ever needed to know that sort of thing. All the other cells have the same sort of lock on them and they all can be over-ridden to all unlock at once by a manual typing of an master code on the third floor electric grid.
I smirk as I went into my cell, shutting the door behind me. I hear the faint sound of the electric lock clicking as it shuts, locking me inside until Serenity enters the master code.
I glance at the clock in my room (it's wired so that it has the same time as the rest of the Prison, made of hard white plastic and thin copper sticks) and drop down beside my bed and pull out my lighter, can of gas, and my rock.
I have two minutes before show time.
I pull on a pair of fireproof gloves, tie a shirt around my waist, and pocket a few markers I've stolen over the years in my shoes- I was determined to go off with a bang, no matter what Serenity said.
One minute left.
I glance at my reflection in the mirror and snort. How could that kid, that scruffy brown haired, grey eyed, fifteen year old kid ever cause any trouble? When he smiles, he looks so innocent. So sweet and kind.
The mirror shatters when my rock somehow leaves my hand smashes into it, sending tear shapes shards everywhere.
That's another thing I hate. I don't like to be called a kid.
Ten seconds.
I take a deep breath and close my eyes. Was I ready for this? I could be killed today. Serenity would want me to do it though, she knew our plan would work. I had to trust her.
Zero seconds.
My eyes snap open as the door to my cell slides open automatically. I was so ready for this.
I leap out of my room and look around the hallway. "Grab your rocks and get ready to run! We're busting out of here! And listen to what I say!" I shout, slamming my hands against the metal walls as I go to get kids' attention. Kids of all shapes and sizes stumble out into the middle of the floor, most of them clutching their rocks and looking confused.
I grab the nearest kid (a lanky boy with a shaved head and athletic looking legs) and shove my can of gas into his arms. "Hold that. Duck any rocks you can get into that can and give them to me when I say so. Do. Not. Drop. It." I face the other kids who starting to follow me. "Let's go!"
I dash to the door that leads to the huge stairwell and kick it open right as the first guard comes running inside the tenth floor.
He gasps. "What the-" My knee to his stomach silences him and I shove him out of my way and start to run down the stairwell. Unfortunately for us the stairwell doesn't have a straight connection to the first floor- the builders of the Fall Out Prison wanted to be sure that it was impossible for anyone to escape.
I resist the urge to hurl a flaming rock at the guards frantically climbing up towards the and my ocean of kids. A fire in this pace would not end well, as Serenity relentlessly told me.
I leap at the guards, kicking and punching anyone who got in my way. I threw one man over the side of the stairwell and he fell to a few floors down, unconscious. I was pleasantly surprised that Lanky Kid, who was still holding my gas can, could fight as well.
"Keep going! Help one another out! We have nine more floors to go!" I shout over the sounds of the kids. "ROCK!" I yell as we approach ninth floor entrance door.
A drenched piece of stone gets placed in my gloved hands. I yank out my lighter and set the gas ablaze as I crash the ninth door open. In half a second I have spotted a huge pile of papers setting a desk of one of the offices. The rock escapes my hands and hits papers and fire erupts into the room.
And then the alarms to off.
People- mostly adults are screaming as us kids come charging through. I fight whoever gets in my way, happy to receive help from a few tough kids.
We leave as the ninth floor is covered in flames, the lighter in my hand lighting up unattended clothes or papers and curtains. We break into the next stairwell going to the eighth floor. I was starting to actually grin, we already made it through two floors!
Pain erupts in my entire body as I spot the next guards running up the stairs. I let out a scream and grasp my shoulder. Warm blood seeps into my hands.
Gosh BEEP IT.
Let's guess what these men are holding- those selfish ignorant cheaters who don't have any mercy.
That's right. Guns. And from the looks of it, they guards are feeling pretty trigger happy.
And guess what else, if it hasn't already been made clear. The only weapons I have are rocks, lighters, and kids. Tons and tons of kids who wanted to break out of this mad house.
