Chapter 6~
What was I covered in?
This was the first question that hit my brain when I woke up. Wait, had I been sleeping? Slowly, very very slowly, I stretched my fingers. The scream came out of my lips before I could even think. My eyes snapped open and I began to choke on my screams when I saw what was around me.
Oh gosh. Oh dear gosh.
Blood was everywhere. Literally everywhere. I was drenched in it. It soaked through my skin and my clothes. It seeped through my hair and my bones.
If I had any breath left inside of me I would still be screaming.
And then I saw the limbs scattered like rocks in the trenches all around me.
The last thing I felt was my head crashing into the pool of blood.

"Listen I don't care that you're out of medicine. Heal him, do whatever it takes!"
I felt sick and nauseous when I came to. I kept my eyes closed, waiting for the Churchill feeling in my stomach to go away before I cracked my eyes open.
At first I expected to see blood coating everything.
But instead my eyes landed on a small girl in ripped clothes was bent over me, her short brown hair framing her face.
She smiled warmly when she saw that I was awake. The smile was gentle and inviting. "Hello, Charlie."
I tried to speak but nothing came out.
"It's okay, don't talk. My name is Edith Sarah." Edith smiled again and stood, wiping her hands on a small cloth. She stepped back from me. "You can see him now."
The words have just left her mouth when another girl rushes forward looking wild and frantic. "Charlie!"
I look at her for a long moment and then relax. How could I forget Serenity, even for a moment?
Serenity sat down beside me, her eyes afraid and watching my every move. I realized that I was one an old mattress dressed only in ripped up trousers that where to big for me. From my chest up, red stained bandages covered my limbs. This made me blush, realizing Iw as halfway dressed,
Serenity glanced down at my shirtless chest and quickly glanced away. "Da** you Diamond. Jumping out of an exploding building like that."
My lips form a small smile. "I didn't... b-break my legs."I flicked my eyes over to Serenity's tightly wrapped legs.
Serenity is about to respond- probably with a sharp comment that was meant to sting me- when Edith Sarah interrupted her.
"No Charlie your legs aren't broken. But your both your arms, collarbone, and a few ribs are. You also have a section of your skull that chipped. And I have no pain medication." Edith Sarah sent a glare towards Serenity.
That was strange. I felt no pain at the moment. Serenity senses my question and holds up a small tin container. "I swiped this on our way here. It's a sedation pill to keep the pain at bay. The effects will wear off in a few hours."
"And then?" I cough.
"You're going to be lying down after that." Edith Sarah cuts in and gives Serenity a glare.
"W-where are we?" I mumble, closing me eyes.
Serenity leans back on the mattress. "We are in an old library. This is Edith Sarah and John's 'camp'."
I tensed up, my eyes snapping open. "J-John?"
"He's my brother." Edith Sarah said quickly. "Don't worry about him. If he gets to close to you, I'll hurt him personally."
I nod, to weak to linger on the fear. Serenity rhythmically taps her fingers angrily against the floorboards. "He better hurry up with that medication."
Edith Sarah snorted. "Oh you think you could go faster than him? It's not like medication for anything is easy to find these days."
"Serenity?" I gasp softly, trying to stop a fight before it happens. "What happened t-to the kids?"
Serenity instantly goes stiff. I turn my head towards her when she doesn't respond and slowly touch her hand with my finger, pleading her to speak. Serenity looks at Edith Sarah than back at me. "They all died Charlie. Every single one of them."
