~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was running, running so hard I was out of breath. I couldn't see where I was going, all I saw ahead of me was a white fog, which made my eyes sting. I didn't know where I was or what I was doing, all that I knew was I had to get away from "Them." They were catching up! My legs were so exhausted, I tripped over my own feet and went sprawling on the hard ground. When I looked up I saw "Them" right over me, reaching out their clawed hands trying to grab me, I opened my mouth to scream, but all that came out was a stifled whimper. As "They" started to drag me back to the alter, I tried so hard to get away from them, but they were stronger than I thought. "They" threw me onto the alter and tied me down. The next thing I saw made me shiver with fright. "They" picked up the sacrifice knife and came towards me! As "It" lifted the knife over my heart, I screamed! I could hear them chanting my name, "Ari, Ari" getting louder and louder until they were yelling my name. I closed my eyes preparing for the worst, when one of them started shaking me viciously, yelling my name.
"Ari! Ari! ARI WAKE UP NOW!"
I sat up so fast that I got a headache. "Oh Jace! It was back, the dream was back!" I said bringing Jace to me in a huge hug. I know what your thinking, Jace is not my mate, he's my brother, well sort- of. You see his mom, Madame Gazelle decided to "adopt" me when I came to The Community at age 5, so Jace automatically became my "brother."
"Shh, it's ok Ari. I'm right here" he said hugging me back.
I then spent the next hour or so crying into Jace's neck, while he just kept hugging me and rubbing my back, trying to calm me down. I couldn't stop crying though. The last time I had that dream was when I first came to The Community. The dreams were so bad that I refused to sleep for a whole week, and let me tell you at the end of the week I probably looked just like "Them" with not having slept in a week. And now all of a sudden 10 years later, the dream was back. After I had stopped crying enough to start hiccuping, I looked at Jace. "Oh Jace I don't know what I'd do without you" I smiled, sure that it had not sounded like I imagined it, because I was hiccuping every other word.
He chuckled, "Ari-Bear, you know i'm always here for you!"
I smiled inside, when he said my nickname. He was the only one allowed to call me that, and he only did it when he truly meant what he said.
"I know  I just wish that the dream  didn't have to come back." I couldn't stop hiccuping!
He smiled. " Well now since you've stopped crying and started hiccuping what do you say we get started on the chores?"
I frowned, living with Madame Gazelle wasn't like living with a real family. She believed that "Children were made to be the servants of the Adults and do everything they are told" as she would say in her high, nasally voice. So ergo that meant that me and Jace had to do all the chores before going to The Academy for our lessons.
I got up and started making my bed, as Jace walked out to get ready. I quickly got my clothes on, and walked into the kitchen to get started on breakfast. She wouldn't be up for another two hours, but it took about that to make her extravagant breakfast of three eggs over easy, five pieces of bacon, two blueberry pancakes, a raisin muffin, and her mint tea. A lot I know, and she wonders why she doesn't have a thinner body. I smiled and laughed at the thought.
